The Songs of Jesus: A Year of Daily Devotions in the Psalms

Read in it every day!

Daily psalm, often divided up for study and application. I was hoping for more depth from Tim Keller, but this is good.

I have kept to this devotional several times in the years since I purchased it and find new insights or ways the Lord has paired these readings with my real life circumstances. The Psalms have put words to deep emotions that these numbing pandemic days have dampened and have provided encouragement and direction for me amidst the darkness and disorientation of our day. Bonhoeffer, the Kellers and other wise Christians recommend daily time in the Psalms. I am increasingly adopting this pattern. True to form, Tim and Kathy Keller bring the Scripture to practical life with the winsome combination of encouragement ane exhortation. This book is a gift!

Compared to some other devotionals I have read this and previous years I could not give this five stars. There's nothing really wrong with the devotions; they just seem to lack the genuine Gospel delivery that blesses you to ponder Gods love in Jesus for you throughout the day.But I gave it four stars primarily because of the most amazing g prayers!! Consistently excellent prayers that were like multi faced gems drawn from scripture in a way that shined directly to my heart and my day! I tip my hat to the authors for these well crafted prayers that each said so very much in so few words!!!

I have paired this book with Kellers book on Navigating Life using Proverbs. They are a matched pair. Psalms presents our problem, Proverbs provides the Solution through God & His Word. I've done this daily for several years. As life is filled with change, each time I read a days lesson it teaches me more & helps me grow in TRUTH & WISDOM OF GOD.

This book gently guides you through the Psalms with Scripture, devotions and prayers. One can complete the entire book in one year as it provides reading for each day of the year. I use as a devotional to go with my daily Bible reading and mediations. Just completed my first full year.

The Psalms are rich in their conciseness and beauty of words. Reading the Psalms for an entire year is not a once experience, but one that can be done year after year. The Keller’s have given an extra help in digging out the gold of the Psalms.

I purchased this book because I wanted to work my way through Psalms to discover new ways, words, & wisdom in how to worship God. Every day give you a new glimpse of God and why He should be exalted.

The devotional segments and prayers in this book are great and biblical and some quite inspiring, but I find that the book as a whole tries too hard to fit is decided themes about the Christian life into each psalm. Some of the devotionals don't fully fit the verses they're matched with.I was under the impression that this book was more about explaining the psalms. It seems to be a devotional book that happens to use the psalms to get where it's going.I'll still use it regularly. It's not bad. It's just not quite what I thought it would be.

My pastor quotes him often. Psalms are intriguing and encouraging. Keller's words represent a solid conservative believer in Christ Jesus

Will read this again in the future. It warmed my heart.

I recommend this for any person who has interest in God's word. It helps me to grow in understanding of the psalms. God bless Timothy and his family.

I was scared whether the book would be worth the price or not but now I am proud of the purchase. Without any hesitation you can buy it's very good.
