This has always been one of my favorite movies? It has the stars, the history, the story to make it an epic.Wish Hollywood still made movies like this.

I bought as a gift and did not open. I gave it to the receiver months later, after expiration date for returns. It is REGION 2! Would not play in the US. Could not return! Never Knew about REGIONS on DVDs!

Dissapointed, I ordered two of these DVD's by mistake. Were shipped from England and they wont play onUSA DVD players,

This is a film that I came across purely through my love of Lara's Theme, a song that I heard a lot of when I was a small child. Having decided to try and find the song on the internet (I couldn't remember what it was called), I came across the film. I had heard of many great films, and many great love stories, but had never seen this. Having decided to dedicate a Sunday afternoon to watch it, I was completely absorbed by the storyline and with the magnificent scenery and locations within the film. This film takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions and left me feeling quite lost for words as the end credits came up. I can't say enough good things about this film. It is a masterpiece and I cannot recommend highly enough. The cast are great, the music is beautiful and the scenery magical.

One of the greatest films ever. Winner of 5 Academy Awards and nominated for another 5 but up against The Sound of Music that year. It leaves a lasting and vivid impression taking film making to a new high level seldom ever matched. Why then does this version have to cut several parts out, I know as I recall even now some scenes which are missing, a travesty. Here one sees five famous actors and actresses at the top of the game giving exquisite performances and the incredibly beautiful Julie Christie who leaves one completely spellbound.Try to find a better uncut version, it also helps to fill in parts which here don't make sense. Packaging too leaves something to be desired..

This production,epic, with “extras”, the making of, the history, the writings of. High quality casting and acting, clever locations and sets. Stimulates further study of Pasternak’s times. This film a long time favourite of mine. Stands up to every generation watching this, including senior school students, University students, for discussion of many and varied topics and issues. Brilliant.

David lean seems to paint a picture with the music and it flows so As to juxtaposition with the whole tale,One of the greats in directing with no doubt,what people do not seem to realise is that it takes a great director to bring out the actors true expression the many masks of acting which show the spirit of the character....Lean pulls this off in many of his films Ryan's daughter,Lawrence of Arabia...if you have not seen this film i suggest you watch it because i think it is one of his best with an all star cast of British actors and actresses, it is a love story like no other during a revolution in Russia,Rod sieger is superb,Tom Courtney is excellent.

The original version is absolutely the best one. If you haven’t seen this version buy it
