When we bought a new, bigger generator last winter I had to re-wire the male end of the genny extension cord from a standard 120v plug to this locking 4-prong 30amp hook up, so it's now the same set-up as the female end, for connecting to our home's circuit breaker panel. Instruction sheet wasn't the most detailed I've ever seen (LOL), but it was good enough to walk me through the changeover procedure. Swap from the old plug to this new one took all of maybe 10 minutes and the new plug hooked up and works like a charm. We also bought a new, longer cord to allow us to run our generator outside of the garage, but we'll be keeping the old, short cord as a back-up, thanks to this new plug. Price for this new plug was about $5-7 cheaper than what the local big box stores in my area wanted, so it was a no-brainer to buy this through Amazon. Rugged, easy to use, affordable. 5 STARS

This plug has a very positive connection system for your cable ends, in that the wire separation and the room within the plug to feed the cable is excellent. In this case, the cable I used was very thick, so I had to use a Dremel tool to cut some of the plastic away to use the cable clamp properly. Very good quality connector, but not for use in wet conditions. I recommend this plug for the above reasons and expect it to be durable when appropriately treated.

Solid quality. Easy installation. I didn’t have stranded wire. Solid conductors went right in. They are easy to grip and lock.
