Perfect OEM Replacement
I needed a recoil for a 1990 Toro 521 snowblower with a 5hp Tecumseh. I first purchased a new rope but the pulley was too worn to reuse. This matched the OEM fit and quality perfectly. It doesn't have the mitten-handle but it's comfortably contoured and pulls easy with gloves. For the price I'm very impressed. It has straight air slots in front just like OEM. The old mitten handle and new rope went into my snowmobile's toolbox for emergencies. Frankly, I feel better having it there than back on the snowblower anyhow.

So I replaced it with a NEW RECOMMENDED replacement part
The old pull starter cord broke. So I replaced it with a NEW RECOMMENDED replacement part. This is a SUB-STANDARD REPLACEMENT PART-------- DON'T BUY IT !!. -----The plastic hub that hold the catch claws in position ,completely shattered.I got 4 starts out of it, that's $6.60 a pull. OH yea this is during the East Coast BLIZZARD of 2016. Now instead of being able to keep up with the storm with the snow blower , I get to sit here getting a refund and being pissed at Tecumseh's badly made and sub-standard product.DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT !!

Easy to install and worth the price and survived a ...
As other reviewers have mentioned the handle is different than the original but other than that ir would be hard to tell the difference between this version and the OEM part. Easy to install and worth the price and survived a very hard winter in the Chicago area where I felt like I was snow blowing my driveway everyday and was concerned how this non OEM part would hold out but it worked like a champ.

Broke after first use
Bought this item back on September 1st as My original recoil starter broke after 12 years of use. This recoil lasted one day. We had our first big snow fall on Super Bowl Sunday and after the first start it wouldn't recoil all the way.......after a few more starts it wouldn't recoil at all. Junk. Spending a little more money on a quality part.

Poor Quality
Installed easy and worked for 5 uses of snow blowing. Went to use, pulled 5 times and cord broke. OEM from Toro costs $40. Should have spent extra for something that would last.
