This product is an identical replacement for the original. The original and this aren't made very sturdy where this piece attaches to the ball of the base units arm. I would recommend mounting this on the arm's ball and then using the universal mount to attach to the back of the GPS unit when putting the GPS away instead of taking this off the ball each time. The quality of the original and this replacement isn't made for the wear and tear of snapping this on and off the base by the ball. Just use the release clip attached to the universal mount to remove it from the GPS and leave the universal mount attached to the base to save on wear and tear.

I went on vacation and as always brought my GPS device. When I picked up my rental car and went to attach the device to the windshield I realized I forgot to bring this little mounting piece. Needless to say it was very difficult trying to prop my GPS somewhere that would allow me to see the screen while driving. When this item arrived it fit my device perfectly and allowed me to mount my GPS securely to the windshield in the hot Florida sun where it remained for an entire week. It literally saved my vacation and potentially my life.

Works as should

I didn't expect this mount to work so well. It holds solidly, creating a very secure attachment point. It also articulates nicely and is easily repositioned.

I purchased a cheaper knockoff and had to send it back as it did'nt fit the ball on my Garmin base. Had to send it back. Save yourself some time and by the this Garmin product. Everything fits as it should and for the extra money is well worth it in quality and fit.
