GLENCAIRN Whiskey Glass, Gift Set of 4 in 4 Pack

"It's a friggin' glass."That's what I thought, anyway, but decided, hey, if I'm going to be venturing into scotch territory, might as well give these a shot.Then I said, why not buy 4? Just in case I break a couple.$25 later, I noticed how small these things are... so the product image is a bit deceiving. No biggie... you aren't going to be filling a tumbler full of scotch anyway.I am coming from a regular old short tumbler glass. Cheap, works. Good for the nose, works for drinking a dram easily.The nose on this glass is fantastic. One of the things I enjoy most about Scotch is the nose. It is MUCH more potent and concentrated than an open tumbler glass, and the design makes it obvious as to why. It is a smaller opening as well, which keeps the aroma in the glass moreso than my cheap tumbler.Drinking from it feels snobby. I'm now snobby. Not much to say about that. =) It almost feels like drinking from the top of those old oil candle glass covers that you usually break as a kid because they were super fragile.I can't say much about durability yet because I just got them recently. Someone mentioned having the bottoms falling out... I do not see any seams or anything where they just attached them to the glass. It's the only thing I can think of as to why this would happen.Worth $25 for 4? Probably not. For me, being able to enjoy the nose definitely is. =)201803 UPDATE: After a year, I am still drinking from my first glass. I'm not doing shots and slamming it on the table, so maybe other buyers had faulty glasses? Noticed that some people had some shoddy-looking packaging... mine came in a nice box that I STILL have (mostly because the other three glasses are still in there.) If it comes in a white package, question it. If you get the genuine thing, definitely worth $25 for 4.Still a fantastic glass to appreciate the nose of a good whisky. A nice stem to hold as well without warming the whisky. Easy to swirl and open up the whisky.Whisky whisky whisky. =)20190909 UPDATE: After more than two years, I still have all four glasses. None of them ever broke, although to be fair, I've only used two of them (one for my home office and the other for downstairs). So if you're not a Neanderthal with your glass, this is worth the $25/4.20191025 UPDATE: Just saw a video from Whiskey Tribe that had a Glencairn fall onto concrete. Out of all the glasses they tried, the Glencairn was the ONLY one to survive a 5-foot drop. Not saying this will, but I'd say that this TYPE of glass will most likely survive a drop. With the most optimal nosing potential, this is a steal and the only glass you should ever buy for scotch or any other whiskey. I also still have all four glasses intact and use one of them almost daily.I still love the nose on this thing. And it's still enjoyable to drink from.I'll stop updating this now, since if I haven't helped you yet with this review, I don't think I can any more. Nos trovia, slainte, gambe, prost, or whatever suits your fancy!

I love single malt whisky & US bourbon. I was somewhat skeptical that this glass would greatly improve my enjoyment but I'm now a believer! The glass truly does allow you to pick out the subtle nuances more precisely. If you're spending $50 and more on single malt scotch, why would you want to miss out on the nuances of each?The design of this glass is based on the traditional "nosing" glass used by master whisky blenders. The pinched waist holds the aroma and the tapering neck directs the bouquet up to your nose. The smaller opening keeps the air in the room from confusing your senses so you get a more precise "nose". A traditional nosing glass has no cuts in the glass or other decoration because it would distort the color of the whisky.The Glencairn glass was originally designed for pub/bar use so it is a sturdy little glass. The bottom is heavy so it's not easily tipped over and is easily grasped. It feels good in the hand. The only glass that would provide a better hand feel (in my opinion) would be a small brandy snifter. A sherry copita would also be a good substitute glass.The size of the bowl was designed to hold the "proper" amount of scotch which is between 35 & 50 mL or approximately 1.5 fluid oz. in a US bar. You pour the scotch to the area on the glass where it just starts to taper up. The photo on the box shows a "proper" pour. The opening is a comfortable size for nosing and drinking.Glencairn also sells a crystal version of this glass but I prefer this lead free version because it is sturdy. The lead free version can go through the dishwasher if you choose but I always hand wash mine so that I don't get any soap or rinse agent residue in the glass. I find this glass to be the right combination of sturdy and elegance. And they make that lovely "ting" sound when bumped against another glass - "Slainte"!I also use this glass for drinking aged rum. It has the same effect on rum as whisky; makes it even more delicious. Some rum fans feel it concentrates the aromas too much because rum is not as subtle as whisky. For young rums, I agree but for older rums, I like using this glass for sipping/tasting.Glencairn does not manufacture these glasses in Scotland but has glass manufacturers in other countries manufacture them to their specifications. Glencairn designs, packages and distributes their glassware from East Kilbride, Scotland. There really is no glass blowing industry left in Scotland at this time.Each glass in this 4-pack, comes in its own box; perfect for gifting & also good for protecting the glass from shipping breakage.

The glen cairns are a great set. I’ve always wanted a set and very glad I made the purchase. They are very well made, look great, are very functional and are at a great value.

Amazing little whiskey glasses. I’ve tried several others… I keep coming back to these. Sturdy and well crafted. Buy a set.

Went on a Bus-Bourbon tour in Kentucky last year, and a couple of the distillers used these shape of glasses for tastings. At about that same time, I had bought a bourbon smoking kit (you burn small oak shavings, and get the smoke in the glass with the bourbon .....it's a great experience), and these shape glasses work perfect for it. A whole new way to experience your favorite bourbon.

1 star for packaging. It was packaged in it’s original packaging, which is a thin paper box with paper divider and no cushioning, plus a bubble wrap around, the packed in a loose box with 1 other item I bought. Needless to say, by the time I opened it, 2 of 4 glasses were shattered, with broken glasses in outer box. Amazon kindly immediate refunded me, letting me keep the surviving glasses, which was nice in quality. However, I still would wish for a set and will likely order it again, just not from Amazon due to my concern for packing.

Always enjoyed my bourbon with an ice cube but tasting the same bourbons with these glasses made a world of difference. The ability to smell and taste subtle flavors is amazing. Highly recommend you try tasting what you have been drinking in the past with these new glasses. You may be pleasantly surprised.

These are the most artful and functional shot glasses out there. My whiskey just tastes better in these glasses.
