Design Toscano Ark of the Covenant Statue

This is the best version available in a comprehensive online store such as Amazon.Toscano produces good quality work. After received and displayed it does not look cheap but looks and feels significantly crafted. And has a respectable weight for its size.It is a very satisfactory reproduction.Some reviewers mentioned it’s not shiny enough. An “eye of the beholder” consideration as far as i’m concerned. Repaint it should you be so capable because you’re losing sleep how dull it seems. {shrug}The Keruvim are appropriately portrayed, with the wings positioned as dictated including the minimal space separating one set from the other (excellent!), the position of the youthful bodies as a boy and a girl (though some talmudic sources suggest the body of birds - which might disturb a public unversed in Torah’s 70 interpretations - even though the sages agree a boy face & a girl face), and there is detail on the direction the faces are positioned (excellent #2!).This reproduction has the faces looking downward a bit, which is appropriate since their direction was based on the people’s attentiveness to their god.It takes no evaluation to know the god people listen to is not the Supreme God but the bad-ego god conveniently arranged per person.Most unfortunately the producers repeat the same grievous error as all other reproductions by placing the poles in the wrong direction: which is fore & aft direction so the Kohen Gadol could find his way out from an incense cloudy small space.When one takes one’s design marching orders from Hollywood & Spielberg instead of the sacred scripture which gives very detailed specifications for an item one can expect production inaccuracies. Periodt.

I love it. It's a great quality and just the right size that I was looking for

I am very impressed with this Ark of the Covenant. I didn’t think I’d even find something like this on Amazon. I purchased mine for a decoration for a Bible gathering I am hosting, but I think it will also be helpful in teaching our kids. Sometimes having things more hands on makes it more interesting and memorable. I am impressed with the detail, even on the inside. My only complaint is that when it arrived I think the gold color was a little too orange and hardly any sheen. I decided to give mine a light coating of gold spray paint and I love how it looks now. I used a Rustoleum Brilliant Gold Metallic spray paint. It now looks much more like real gold and has much more sheen. The pictures I’m including are after I painted it with the spray paint. It would’ve taken me a long time to make something like this, so I was happy to find something decently priced that wasn’t the size of a deck of cards.

Larger than I thought it would be, and fairly well-detailed. Only issue I have is one of the handles was loose when it arrived. Judging by the marks on the Styrofoam it came in, this is not a craftsmanship issue so much as it is an issue with the packers.

I have to be honest and say that I really wasn't expecting a high quality product for something in the $30 neighborhood...but that was before the Ark arrived. I haven't written many reviews, but the Ark arrived today and it was definitely worth the money! The first surprise was how it was packed: film-wrapped and packed in real thick Styrofoam, inside a heavy-duty cardboard box, the manufacturer clearly knew how to protect the Ark during shipment. So is it metal or plastic? It's HEAVY...so it is obviously cast metal, painted gold in color. The Ark lid is packed separately from the Ark itself, which prevents one from damaging or scratching the other (which is good because it is so heavy). The design is ornate, and for those fans of the Old Testament who have seen renderings of what the Ark was believed to have looked like, you won't be disappointed. Lastly, I am writing this while taking a late lunch, instead of reading the sports page (which is my favorite lunchtime activity), so that you should tell you all you need to know about how pleased I am with my purchase!!!

It arrived broken, which happens, but I didn’t care for quality of the item as a whole. There’s details in the casting for sure, but not what I expected from reading reviews. It looked much less refined than I expected, and more like thick, molded plastic covered in gold. I purchased a more expensive one, instead of having it replaced.
