Only buy if you your house flooded. After 1.5 years sprung a leak!!
Only buy if you your house flooded. After 1.5 years sprung a leak. Slow drip if we didn’t catch it before we left for going out of town would have dumped 50 gal of water on our 3rd floor and we would get a lawyer involved for 5 gal spill and the lesson of you get what you pay for I’ll walk away with a black eye. Impossible to clean. Looks great from far but far from good!! Here it is now getting ready to find a way to dispose of it. POS. You have been warned!!!

penn plax cylinder fish tank
Nice tank. Took almost a month to get here (ordered just before Christmas-that's when my old tank sprung a leak). Terrible directions. Emailed company for info and they responded. only negative thing is the stops to help set the lid onto the tank were all off but 1 so will have to re-glue them on.

Low quality. Do not buy.
After being in use for four months, the water tank started leaking at the spot where the water change hose is connected to the bottom of the tank. I do not see a way to fix it. The aquarium is full of fish and plants. Leaking water is going to damage my floor. Very poor quality. Do not by.

Looks beautiful but design creates headaches
We bought this cylindrical tank for two of our Discus that decided they wanted to be a breeding pair. The aquarium looks fantastic, just as cool as the photos. The design creates a lot of headaches when you are setting up or maintaining. The inside of the aquarium itself can only be accessed through two relatively small ports on the top and it's depth make it nearly impossible to reach the bottom of the tank because you can't reach in past your shoulder (I'm 6'2" and had to place the airstone and the plants with a pair of BBQ tongs while standing on a stool). The tank does not come with a heater, which is fine, and it does come with a good air pump and a passable filter but the air pump keeps coming unattached because it is squeezed into a small "safety box" in the lid and the suction cups for the filter and the air tube keep coming off the sides of the tank, perhaps because of the curved surface (?).Now that it is all set up and running, I like it just fine, but I know when I have to do a take down or deep clean on it next, I'm going to be cursing again.Bottom line, how bad do you want a cylindrical tank? I would probably choose to deal with the hassles because the aesthetic is great, but my wife probably wouldn't let me because she was even more irritated than I was.

Not for beginners !!
The tank and base are light in weight,The lid is great in the way it hides all the cords and power strip, but is a pain in the butt to remove all must be disconnected before you can remove to get to the filter or the lid. Also the filter lid has a access hole in the top that has to be blocked off due to the filter tube has spray holes that spray water thru it so be prepared to clean up a mess if you do not block off. Also the pump will not stay secured to the side of the tank,it comes with 4-suction cups but every few days you have to disassemble all from the lid and re connect,It is a task !! I am working on this problem as it too is a major pain. Also to add fish you must disassemble the lid completely. So as i say not for the beginner !! the system has it's issues but overall is very nice. But the lid takes some practice to get it on and off. Also the light system is awesome, very customizable !!

Horrible
Product came broken and I have been reaching out for months to customer service and no longer answering phone or returning voicemail ****Beware**** do not buy not good quality this should have a negative star rating** still dealing with customrt service 1 year later poor service and quality control was even told they are aware of the leaking and phased out this tank still waiting for a replacement and service

Looks nice but the long term durability and quality is questionable.
This aquarium comes with a penn plax filter that is basically the only one that can be used as it fits the cut out on the top of the acrylic tank. The pump for the filter we received in the box, which looked brand new did not work at all. We had to go to our local aquarium store and get a replacement which cost us an additional 150 dollars.
