Painted black and used wide washers and thicker bolts to reinforce mounts. Not a bad product.

Surprisingly strong for it's light weight. Yes, there are certainly other "heavier duty" units out there ..but not at this price. Comes with 2 stainless sheet metal screws for the lower connection points. I used 1/4" grade 5 bolts with fender washers on the inside of the door instead, for added strength. I weigh a solid 250# and it does just fine. The door is going to bend before that ladder does. Only other mod is applying tread tape to the top of the rungs as the factory finish is pretty slick when wet.

DOES NOT FIT CHEVY VAN

This ladder fit the back door of my 2005 Chevy 3500 (Duramax) Van it perfectly. It is made very well. I've had vans with ladders since 1974 and this one is by far, made the best. The upper mounts are welded and they slip over the top of the door. I pre-drilled two screw holes into my door for the lower mount bolts. I've never felt totally comfortable going up/down on any of the other ladders I've owned (and I use it to access my Weather Guard Safari rack with Diamond plate deck) a lot. This ladder is ROCK SOLID and I have no concerns whatsoever about if it's going to "let go" (fall off the door with me on it) anymore.

The whole thing is really nice. Very sturdy, and the finish is flawless. It does bug me a bit that the bottom bends aren't equal. If I moved the ladder to the left, the lower mount pads were even but the ladder was crooked. If I put the ladder on straight, the lower pads are way off where they should be and it really draws your eye. Hence, 4 stars.

We had ours powder coated black to match our roof rack. The Express doors are curved on the top and this ladder is designed to fit on the drivers side door. The included screws will not bite into the metal doors as desired and require a hole to be drilled to insert. We will likely install a metal plate inside the door with bolts to secure it even more.No problems so far as we use the ladder often to access cargo on our roof rack. It looks great. We just wished it came in black.

Excellent ladder, is one piece welded stainless steel, very nice welds, very strong, far better than the cheaper multi piece units offered, etc. My only complaint is, I hate shiny chrome (or in this case stainless steel) so after having it powder coated semi gloss black I'm very happy and wish they would make a longer ladder like this for rain gutter side mount.

It only fits on the rear driver's side door. My problem is my tire carrier is on that door and I need one that fits the passenger's rear door. I ordered their universal model but couldn't get it in stainless steel. From the reviews it should be fine.
