Badlands 2200 Hunting Backpack with Built-in Meat Hauler

Used this on a week long Elk Hunting trip with over 15 miles of hiking. I used this to pack in and then once I had base camp setup, I offloaded much of my gear and used it as my small pack. It’s comfortable, adjustable and fits nicely. I am 6,4” 220lbs and it was a great fit for me once I got everything adjusted. More than enough storage for 3 sets of clothing, med pack, rifle, ammo, some food, and a very compact sleeping mat and bag. The orange cover gave me an extra sense of security during season that I wasn’t going to be mistaken for an animal and it works great for hauling meat I would imagine as it all is very secure whenever you have the sides cinched down, however we had horses so I haven’t needed to use that function yet. Great value for the money!

It was time to replace a pack that my Dad had given me before he passed and I had hunted with for years so you could imagine this pack had some big shoes to fill. I honestly think this is the only pack that I could imagine could fill the hole. It is perfect from an Awesome company with the best warranty. Pros: internal frame, HUGE zipper pulls, super sturdy fasteners, completely expandable, meat shelf, comfortable and adjustable straps, pistol holster both sides, hidden rifle holder, optics holder, great balance, easy to strap down stuff to the outside. Internal bladder pouch absorbs condensation so your gear does not get moist. Fairly waterproof by itself. Cons: No external radio pocket one thing about my old pack I liked better was a shoulder strap radio pouch. A bladder hose holder on the strap would be nice I robbed my old one. You have to buy a bladder and rain cover separate. Not really a big deal because I like water/Gatorade bottles instead when I hunt. Just so much easier to deal with Instead of cleaning out the bladder and drying it so it does not taste like an aquarium . I did buy the bladder though just because I am a gear nerd. make sure you get the square 2l one because that is the internal pouch it has. (The rain cover might come down the line just in case but I don’t want to be in the weather it would be needed since this thing will take a downpour by itself) Overall an Awesome pack and I give Badlands credit as this is well thought out and I used to think these packs were expensive now I see they are almost underpriced and It is a great value to add enjoyment and capability to the hunt.

I don’t even know where to begin. I spend a massive portion of my life in interesting and remote places for both recreation and work. As a adventure photographer and hunter I’m frequently using different kit to sustain the amount of time I have in the wilderness. I use a Couple key factors when choosing kit to base it’s effectiveness to get the job done. Weight, versatility, durability, Packability, and Application. The weight is extremely good in my personal opinion and the pack when properly adjusted removes the weight from your shoulders to your hips making the packed weight feel significantly easier to move for extended periods of time. Often times in recreational equipment weight it sacrificed only when durability is lost. That’s not the case with this pack. This thing is tough as nails! As far a versatile goes I could see this pack being used in a broad spectrum of outdoor applications but it certainly excelled at its intended usage of a extended duration hunting pack. All the pockets and placements as well as added feature such as the integrated meat shelf and ability to have a bow cradle attached (im a bow hunter) make this a superior bag for the task! Love the product and you will also:) have fun in those mountains!

This pack is absolutely everything i wanted. Fits alot in the pack (don't suggest loading it down) yet enough room for carrying meat out.

I’d give it 5 but the pocket which serves as the gun/bow holder is too small. The cam of my bow doesn’t fit well. It works, but the pocket should be larger by an inch. A draw cord on the pocket would be great as well. Imagine if they added a second pocket on top to protect the top cam!

...and I have a whooooooole bunch of them. These are hands down the best (there's another N. European brand that I like -- won't mention them since the Amazon review gestapo keeps sensoring my reviews lately, but those are more expensive for less, me thinks). Happy packing!

I have had my pack for a few years and have packed out alot of elk in this. I have had up to half an elk in the pack inside and out with no issues. I ended up breaking one of the buckles and contacted badlands directly. They are awesome and will repair their packs as well as send replacement parts. I took a couple pics and submitted a request on their site. Within the week i have 2 buckles for free.

The badlands 2200 is just the right size for any hunting trip
