Sliding is not the right feeling to have, Sliding causes many problems that your hands can sometimes compensate for, but turning, “pivoting “ is the feeling that you are looking for

While the pad can detach, there is no need to detach and flip it. The left handed golfer will put the thumb in the hole where the right handed golfer puts their pinky finger.
