Twist-Erase GT, 0.5mm, Mechanical Pencil Transparent Black barrel, Box of 12 (QE205A)

For years I searched for the perfect mechanical pencil, and now it finally exists. There are 3 key features that the perfect pencil must have:1. Retractable point so it does not poke you.2. Long eraser because the reason you use a pencil is so you can erase.3. Metal clip because the plastic clips always break.Not only does this pencil have the required 3 features, it also has a very nice grip, and the lead feeds very easily. All this at a very reasonable price. I definitely recommend the box of 12 because you are going to want these everywhere.

Just received these Pentel Twist-Erase GT (QE205) pencils. $18.99 for 1 dozen.WOW! Near perfect. Several reasons:1) Feels good just to hold it, with the ribbed rubber barrel2) Lead feeds precisely3) Lead supported very close to end of lead, so it is not inclined to break4) Lead softer than most new mechanical pencils, which I prefer. Maybe not quite as soft as "B" lead (my favorite) but very acceptable. Usually, with new pencils, lead is so hard, the first thing I do is replace it with B lead.5) TIP IS RETRACTABLE! With lead and tip retracted, I can put it in my pants pocket, and not get jabbed when I reach for keys or iPhone.6) Cost: at $1.38 each (12 at $18.99), they are a bargain! Rival other pencils that have been removed from the market, & cost 2 or 3 times more. I bought 24 Paper Mate Write Bros pencils for $12, and I am throwing 21 of them away! Suggest you stay away from them. Today prices is only $10.09/dozen, so ordering 2 boxes. Hate to have them disappear in the next year or two, or have the price jump to $25 or more. That provides 2 boxes of spares. I now have one or more pencils in all my briefcases, car, and various drawers around the house. Wish all my Amazon purchases were this good!

The pencil is comfortable to write with, the lead is excellent quality and the eraser never needs to be replaced.For my son, the most important aspect is that the thin metal tip can be completely retracted into the plastic body, unlike most mechanical pencils (which tend to leave holes in his pockets.)One of the most impressive aspects of this order was that I placed it Saturday night, and it arrived on this very snowy Sunday morning. That's less than 18 hours later, in bad weather and on a weekend, no less!

I've used this style for years. It's well designed.

It writes like a fine point pen but it erasable. Very comfortable for writing a lot. No hand cramps.

I got these on Amazon and appreciate the retracting tip. The comfort grip is helpful when one writes a lot. Pair this pencil with a cut-down Pentel Click-Eraser refill, and one now has the perfect mechanical pencil.

I really like these pentel mechanical pencils with a nice soft grip. However, the box came with very difficult bar code tags on each one! I would recommend that the supplier not add tags to each pencil or use easy to remove tags that do not leave a sticky residue on the pencils!

Most mechanical pencils have replaceable leads and one single eraser, which means that after a few days or weeks, unless you do everything perfectly the first time ;) , you're left with a stubby, useless eraser and thus a basically useless mechanical pencil.These have replaceable leads and a replaceable eraser, so you can use one forever.
