Pet Lou 23 Inch Racoon, Asst Colors, Model:RAC-23

Our collie is 3+ years old and this is the only toy that he has consistently wanted to play with since he was a baby. It's quite sturdy, but he likes to hold it in his mouth and shake hard and will chew on any string he can get loose, so eventually it gets some holes and needs to be retired from duty. We are now on our 5th raccoon and have already bought #6 for the time when surgery requirements become too extensive. He's a powerful chewer, but will generally not play with those soft toys that are specifically designed to be chew proof. This one seems like a soft toy to him, but is still quite durable. We love this toy!

My dear old dog boy Bear is on his 3rd squeaky raccoon. He loves these and carries his around with him giving it little bites to make it squeak or grunt as if for emphasis of important points in his dialogue with the world. He carries it to bed with him too. The toy is sturdy enough to withstand moderate chewing, but we have a younger, really quite enthusiastic chewer of toys in the house, and he steals Bear's toys and destroys them from time to time. When this happens,Bear looks for his raccoon, carries the little scraps left of it around with him, and clearly grieves. Hence, we have now bought 3 of these. Well worth it though, since it gives Bear so much comfort! Bear is a sweet elderly mixed breed, probably Rottie and Lab I would guess, and this toy is just the right size for him.

This is a fairly large dog toy, and the grunting sound is a lot more fun than yet another squeak toy, but it's not going to last very long. That said, our 65 pound mutt tears up anything with stuffing except for those toys that are edged with black fabric, and he just ignores those. I don't have high hopes for any toy with stuffing! At $13 it's not an unreasonable price for a toy. I want to try the Fluff and Ruff raccoon next, but it's $20 so maybe that will be a birthday present.

This has lasted somewhat longer than other toys purchased for my dachshunds. They can shred things, taking out all the stuffing and the squeakers within 30 minutes. This has lasted longer, maybe because it is so big. I actually sew it up and add new squeakers from time to time to prolong the life. You can buy a big back of squeakers here on Amazon. It gets a little more life out of the thing before I have to buy another. Yes, I am a bit crazy about my doggies.

My name is Lanie and I m an 80 lb Lab mix. I really like this stuffed animal and love to carry it around in my mouth. It’s tail squeaks and it makes a weird groan when I bite it’s abdomen. However this is a plush toy and I should be supervised as if I chew on a particular spot with a vengeance I can expose fluffy stuffing which I probably shouldn’t eat. Nevertheless Rocky Raccoon has been a fun toy.

I'm very disappointed with this. I JUST opened the box and gave it to my dog less than 10 minutes ago and it has already ripped open on the stomach area. There's no backing to prevent tears. I bought this to replace an old hedgehog she has had for about 6 years and is just worn out. This one is not a good choice for a big dog at all. The back, head and tail are made out of amazing material but the stomach is junk.

I (and my dog) generally love Pet Lou products - the squeakies are so unique and awesome! The big ones have a low-pitched one that isn't as annoying as the others. They are also my go-to because they are usually very durable...others I've tried usually last less than a day for my 100 lb german shepherd. Unfortunately, the fabric on this one didn't hold up as well as others I have bought (and I've bought A LOT), it only lasted a couple days before the belly got shredded - it's the only one I've had that the fabric tore before my dog broke the squeaky. If you have a dog that isn't as powerful (or a dog that isn't as crazy about squeakies as mine), this product is great. It's adorable, BIG, and the sounds it makes are fantastic. If not, I would check out some of their other products instead.

Very happy with my purchase

Our JRT loves Ricky Racoon. Given he can destroy any toy, Ricky I lasted an impressively long time. He chews on Ricky like a noo-noo blanket every night. Eventually, Ricky I looked like a shadow of his former self, obviously with no stuffing left. So I offered the JRT other toys. Nothing like the interest. Still, he chewed on the bits of Ricky I. So for Christmas I got him Ricky II and he was completely delighted. Sure, the stuffing is coming out (this is a farm JRT). But he's still looking reasonable and is chewed like a noo-noo blanket every night. Fantastic toy.

one of our corgi's favorite. It is a big and sturdy toy, lasted for around 5 months, before she managed to rip a little hole in it and started taking the filing out, which provided extra fun and more mess for us to clean.she still likes to play with the "skin", so very versatile indeed :))

My 13.5 Yr young labrador has had one of these for eleven years and treats it like its her puppy. Unfortunately after just one day the new one needs stitching re done on the main seem. Definitely not as good quality as the old one.

We've had a few of the other Danish Design toys, all been a big hit with my 3 dogs (2 greyhounds and a lurcher). This was no different, as soon as it was out the packaging they were running all around the garden with it. It has a squeaker and a 'honker', so suits both of my dogs as they can both make a noise with it at the same time. They've been playing with it for a month, and so far, no rips or tears, and it still makes a noise.Would recommend it to anyone, my dogs love it so much!
