soles are hard to me. May be my 80 year old feet.
Soles are hard. My 80 year old feet need more cushion. Every thing was well made. shoes look great; but can't walk in them. Made my feet hurt. These are nice well made leather shoes. But the soles of the shoes are 'hard' to my 80 year old feet. I Need more cushion in bottom of shoes. I need a 8 1/2 size with a closed toe shoe. The toe-box is wide enough (need room to keep little toe from rubbing on next toe) and heals are good fit. Most disappointed. Size 8 was too short.

No problems
This is my first Hush Puppies purchase. I ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly. When I wore socks, they did feel a bit stiff. When wearing nylons, there were no textural issues. There was more support for the foot on the outer edge (no rolling feet outward) than normal in shoes. The minimal heel did not cause any discomfort.I wore these shoes to a family event, which included walking around paved trails at a park. No foot issues. I did not receive any compliments nor expect them. These are very practical shoes that go easily from dressy venue to casual, but blend in.

I love the look and quality.
True the size and picture displayed. My daughter loves them!!! if did not give them five because I thought the heel could have been a bit lower but all in all I am pleased.

I really wanted to like these shoes....
I'm on this neverending quest to find shoes suitable for mucho walking while I spend 2 weeks in Spain. I wanted shoes that were light, and that could be worn with jeans, capris, and skirts.Technically, these shoes fit the bill. They are light, they are cute, and they seem to go well with a variety of clothing style.I had to send them back because they were just a bit too big for me. I could either get a 10W (too small) or an 11W (too big). I tried on 11 mediums in the store and they were too snug. Perhaps they'll stretch, but that's not a gamble I can take for these particular shoes. Also, and maybe this is just me...but I don't know how comfortable these would be for hours of walking. The sole seems a bit thin and floppy. The insole seemed to provide good arch support, but then there's this bubbly piece on the heel---heel & walking support I would think. But...and this is the MAIN reason I sent them back...even walking around the living room, that heel thing was REALLY uncomfortable. It's like a raised oval in the middle of the heel. So your the insole is like Raised (outer part), valley (sunken part between the outer part and the raised inner part), Raised. Like a backwards donut. Really uncomfortable to walk in and I just have this suspicion that it would cause awful blisters. The moat-like cutaway between the outer part of the insole and the raised heel support is way too deep. It feels funky, and it gives this distinctly ribbed feeling to the heel. I know this is making NO sense if you're not wearing these shoes. For me, that part was too uncomfortable.Add the uncomfortable heel with the hair-too-big sizing, and I just don't think these are going to work for what I had in mind. The good, though: The strap, I thought, was nice and large. IT's velcro and unlike many shoes, doesn't skimp on the velcro. At its widest, I had a good 3 more inches my feet could grow across the top before the strap got too tight. That's a nice feature.Had I been looking for casual shoes for work or home, I would have probably snatched these up. I just can't take the chance they're going to work, then be out $40 when they don't.

Work Shoes
I was required by a manager at my job to wear this particular style of shoes. These shoes were in no way the appropriate attire for someone working my position. I was injured because of these shoes for that reason and that is the only reason my rating is not 5 stars. These shoes are very comfortable, and fit well. I'm not really a fan of this style of shoe, but I wore them everyday for months working backroom retail. They held up very well to heavy wear and tear. The company I worked for had a policy that all employees were expected to abide by a dress code. This required ALL employees to wear dress shoes that had been approved by the manager. This is the style my manager chose. Backroom employees were not exempt from this rule despite having to regularly clime ladders and squeeze through tight cluttered corridors. As was inevitable, the small leather band that goes across the top of these shoes, snagged on a metal fixture and caused me to trip. My knee was seriously injured because of this negligence.Do not wear these shoes if you are planning on doing anything more than walking around. These are dress shoes not work shoes. My old manager was in no way intelligent. Don't be like her.

Disappointed...
I just love the shoe. it is absolutely adorable. However, I usually wear a 9 and a 1/2 wide and I ordered a 10 extra wide and it is too short and too tight and there is no 10.5 or 11 extra wide. I feel no arch support at all. 😞

Good sturdy shoe
I ordered these because I couldn’t find the black Mart Jane’s I’ve gotten from Clark previously. My feet are very narrow and long so I have to have something with a strap to keep them in. These are well made, and fit fairly well. However the bottoms are quite hard and the shoe doesn’t really bend which produces a closing sound. So good shoe but not a fan of the soul.
