There is NO product information/directions on where specifically to take the dogs ear temp to achieve accuracy other than the picture on the box pointing outside the ear canal. There is NO Product Information/directions on the distance recommended between ear and thermometer to achieve accuracy. There is also NO information of what is a normal dog's ear temp to avoid googling. Takes 2 battery's rather than 3 as stated on amazon. Very easy to use. Took the thermometer to my vet appointment to determine accuracy (as well as getting instructions) and thermometer is accurate!!

I bought this only because the one I had researched wasn't available (it had the ability to turn off the beep). Keep looking. I read the reviews & was warned about the loud beep. I figured, "How loud could something this small be" Well, the ear piercing tone, is very loud. loud enough that a dog will not allow you to do it twice, without force and a struggle. I tried it in my own ear, & didn't want to repeat. I tried it (Reluctantly, on the dog twice, & got 2 very different readings) Tried on myself trying to get the same reading twice, got 4 different readings. Not accurate at all, and not worth going deaf over.

I could get five different readings in a row. I had a dog that was about to whelp so I needed accurate temperature readings. I was very disappointed in this thermometer.

This is easy foolproof and no hassling with pet. Gave me peace of mine when Archie has pneumonia

Had high hopes for the product. Not accurate; about the same as an axillary temp. Could be improved if there was a toggle switch to prevent it from turning on, more compact (like thumb size to hang on your neck) , waterproof, silent mode and tracking memory. Pros: product seemed sturdy, they seem to on the right track for product development and delivered on time. Hoping to get a refund.

Quick check of animal temperature using skin without hair

Not accurate at all. All thermometers are the same for people and pets. Don't get suckef in thinking this one is better for pets. It's not. Could not get one accurate reading.

It gives very different temperature readings from the same animal, over a space of 1-2 minutes. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency if it is consistently high or consistently low either. I thought it could be used in a veterinary clinic setting, but I wouldn’t use this thermometer at the clinic. It also doesn’t have the same accuracy as the rectal thermometer (compared the readings during anesthesia). I have used it to get surface readings for making yogurt, and since it doesn’t require accuracy, just approximation, it works fine. Expensive for a cooking thermometer 😛.
