A very nice hatchet for camping or light-duty activities
Overall I am very satisfied with this hatchet (Lexivon V14 for reference). I did a good amount of research and watched way too many youtube reviews before finally deciding on which hatchet NOT to get. My first weakness is that I like the color yellow, but the design drew me in the most. Previously I had a Fiskars hatchet of similar size that was lost (sank to bottom of lake) and have tried replacing it with cheaper hatchets found online and have struck out for the most part....everything either felt too cheap/thin or parts would dull/age way too fast. I decided to give the L14 a go...not based off Amazon reviews, but by my close friend's experience with his. He's no "Bear Grylls", but he's big into hiking/camping and I know this has been his primary hatchet for at least 10-12 months now. I have only had this hatchet for about 3 weeks and have had limited experience so far, but here are my observations...- This is a very well balanced hatchet. No vibrations when chopping.- The blade sharpness was not to my liking. Most people would probably have no issue with how the blade comes, but wet stone sharpening has become a recent hobby so I just had to sharper this little guy.- Overall feel/strength of the handle is as close to the Fiskars as I've felt so far. It took awhile, but I chopped through a wet pine trunk (approx 10in dia) twice in a row with ease. Adding a good edge will make a big difference.- Main gripe so far would be the "blade cover" that comes with it. The very first night I got this it was leaning against my above-ground fire pit and ended up tipping over and the plastic blade cover shatter into like five pieces. Not sure what plastic is used on that crap, but don't expect much use out of it. Buy a better cover.Jordan

The V-14 hatchet won't disappoint you
The V14 showed up on time. The edge isn't particularly super sharp but i had no issue splitting up a bunch of kindling and took off some nuisance branches. The hatchet does what it is designed to do and does it well. The edge held up very well and with a simple sharpening will do even better. The head is light but the handle is extremely light and the balance is toward the bottom of the head making it controllable but easy to strike hard. The included sheathe/holder is nice as well. I would definitely recommend this hatchet. It will be a solid go-to for camping, backpacking, and kindling prep at home.

For the price excellent
This is an excellent, excellent small camping/kindling splitting tool. Lightweight but sturdy, appropriate sized head for the tasks designed for, solid fiberglass/polymer type handle. I have let friends and family handle/use it and all have been impressed with how light and sturdy it is. I have used it (and the larger splitting axe version I bought as well, for occasional larger blocks of wood) quite a few times and now consider it an old friend type tool that I can rely on and count on to do what I need with minimal effort. Highly, highly recommend it. You will get your money's worth with this purchase, especially if you need a lightweight tool for making stove wood, kindling, camping/backpacking, etc.

Very light
I really enjoyed the handle and the lightness of the hatchet. Will try it out tomorrow.

Great little hatchet and the excellent company it's made by.
So I bought this hatchet and within three days it broke. Faulty handle. The company was very quick to contact me to either send a replacement or a refund so I decided to get a replacement. They were very friendly and very quick on getting the replacement to me even in this hardship we're under right now. The hatchet itself feels great in the hand and cut very well. I used stuff like this a lot as I prefer to do things without power tools so trust me when I say it's a great tool especially at the price point. Again very impressed with the company and how they handled the situation. Definitely would recommend this.

it's too small
This axe is possibly just too small, it has the length and weight similar to a regular sized hammer.I tried splitting some 3" diameter branches length wise and I have a hard time, because of the short handle it puts your head too close to the action (not really a good thing here). It also does not arrive with a sharp edge, it is a bevel but it is not sharp at all.It could chop off small branches, but it is highly inefficient in splitting firewood. I suggest getting a larger size splitting axe.
