Awesome for the price👌
I bought these because I never saw these in stores and got curious. I briefly tried pastels before and I found them too difficulty to work with. BUT. These are very buttery, super fun to play with and mix colors. They have a somewhat firmer feel than other pastels but layer well. Colors are very vibrant.I don't know if I would give these to a young child, they do have the oil chemical smell that regular pastels have and I find they are super messy as well. I think this would be a wonderful present for a child of 8+ interested in exploring different mediums.I made the doodle as a gag gift to my sister within 2 hours of them being delivered. It didnt take long to get the hang of it. These are super forgiving and let you layer over mistakes.

Fabulous oil, pastels, from an art teacher.
I have bought hundreds of these because I am an art teacher. My students have made beautiful work using these oil pastels. I love the variety of colors.

Very good beginner oil pastels
As far as oil pastels go, these are really good for the price. If you want hard oil pastels and not soft buttery ones, these are definitely the way to go. I was skeptical at first because of the funky shape, but I actually really like the way these work a lot! When it comes to durability, they’re definitely harder to snap or break, so these are definitely more kid friendly than the majority of oil pastels. However, if you are a perfectionist like me who is big on blending, you really have to try with these ones; depending on the color, the lines come down very harshly and are not super opaque (cough cough metallic colors cough) To get a good mark out of them you might have to press down relatively hard depending on the surface, so if you decide to use these as if they are crayons for some reasons, they’re not the quickest to simply write with.

First time using oil pastels so can't compare to any others but I like these alot. They have a good variety of colors and they work good for school art projects.

Works better than crayons
My daughter loves paiting, and most of the time she uses markers. Sometimes she likes to use crayons too, but we brought many brands of crayon, they all have the same issue, which is that the color is very light. I bought this oil pastels and was hoping it would have similar effect. And it works so much better than crayons, the texture is very buttery/smooth, easy to apply on paper, and the colors are very pretty. The only thing what I don't like is, when she applies a thick color, it leaves a lot of residues. Other than that, works so much better than crayons.

I hate oil pastels
I believe that everything Crayon produces is really great, and their prices are just unbeatable. I keep thinking how pretty oil pastel paintings are, so I have bought several different sets to try them, and just end up making a mess. I tried blending with the fingers and I hate that too. I tried different things, tissues, paper towels, alcohol, and just cannot get the hang of it. The fault is mine, not Crayola. Buy them.
