Mostly great.
We love this book but I feel there are two major misses. First, no Kwanzaa. I love using this book as a reference to learn about holidays and went to it when my daughter asked about Kwanzaa but was shocked it wasn't included! Also some holidays are in a strange order. I know some holidays are not on the same day(s) every year but they're still way off on a few. Overall great content and illustrations, it's a favorite.

A Global Carnival of Joy: Celebrating Diversity in 'A Year Full of Celebrations and Festivals' 🌍🎉
Embarking on a journey around the world with Claire Grace's "A Year Full of Celebrations and Festivals" felt like stepping into a kaleidoscope of cultures, colors, and festivities. With Chris Corr's vibrant illustrations as our guide, this enchanting book turned the pages of time and space, unraveling over 90 delightful festivals that paint the world in joyous hues. From the outset, the book invites readers on a cultural odyssey, exploring festivals that span the globe. The text, rich with fascinating facts, dances in harmony with Corr's visually arresting illustrations, creating a sensory feast that transcends the confines of the page. As I delved into the narratives of diverse celebrations, each festivity emerged as a unique brushstroke in the masterpiece of global traditions. The characters in this tale are not confined to individuals; they are the collective spirits of communities rejoicing in their distinctive customs. Thanksgiving dinners with friends and family, the exhilarating chaos of Spain's La Tomatina, the vibrant splashes of color in the Holi festival – every celebration breathes life into the pages, inviting readers to partake in the infectious enthusiasm. What sets this book apart is its ability to not merely document festivals but to encapsulate the essence of each celebration. Whether it's the reflective moments of Martin Luther King Jr. Day or the exuberant revelry of Chinese New Year, every festival becomes a living, breathing entity, resonating with the heartbeats of those who partake. The World Full of... series, of which this book is a splendid addition, is a treasure trove for curious minds. It seamlessly weaves together stories from across the globe, fostering an appreciation for diversity and the rich tapestry of human traditions. Grace's narrative and Corr's illustrations combine to create a harmonious celebration of the multitude of ways people come together to honor history, culture, and sheer joy.In 'A Year Full of Celebrations and Festivals,' the world transforms into a grand stage where every festival is a star, twinkling with its own brilliance. This book is not just an exploration; it's an invitation to revel in the joy of shared humanity, one festival at a time.

Filled with information we should know
The 127 page book “A Year Full of Celebrations and Festivals” is a volume that all families should have at home and should be read by people of all ages who can read because it is very informative about a matter that we should know more about. It tells about 55 festivals broken down by Spring (15), Summer (14), Fall (13), and Winter (13). The book is filled with colorful drawings that kids will like. The authors tell the origin of the festivals that scholars claim such as that Easter originated as a pagan holiday celebrating the goddess Eostre and that the idea of an Easter bunny comes from Germany. They give the current religious meaning of the holiday such as its connection to Christian Holy Week and Lent. They also tell how it is celebrated in Sweden and why the Easter egg is painted.Readers will learn about festivals such as the Summer and the Winter Solstice that educated people should know because it affects our calendar, as well as the holidays observed by non-Christians such as Passover, Chinese New Year, and Ramadan, and national holidays as Martin Luther King Jr Day.

Celebrate!
This title is bright, colorful and packed with celebrations. It is organized by seasons. To give a few examples, spring occasions include St. Patrick’s Day, Hanami, Easter and Earth Day among others, while summer has entries on International Children’s Day, Barunga and Palio di Siena, for example. Autumn holidays include Diwali, Thanksgiving and The Pearly Kings and Queens Harvest Festival among others and a few of the winter times include Bodhi Day, Chinese New Year and The Festival of the Dancing Masks.Young readers can find out more about holidays they know while also broadening their knowledge of world culture and holidays. All in all, this is a very nice and inclusive title and a good one for home or school libraries. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own. This title is bright, colorful and packed with celebrations. It is organized by seasons. Beautiful and informative but confusing
I love this book, the illustrations are bright and engaging and I've learnt lots from it about traditions old and new. However if you want to actually celebrate these traditions it is very confusing. Some are ordered by type of celebration rather than date. Some are ordered by season (which is fair enough as some festivals change their dates every year). Some tell you the exact date, some tell you the rough time of year, and some don't tell you when the festival is at all. Overall it's a bit confusing and I would prefer a book with festivals vaguely in chronological order as this makes it a more accessible resource if you actually want to celebrate the traditions at the right time of year.
