Low profile, tight fit, correct angle
Good price and worked for what I needed, which was to install a NVidia GTX card that was too long and it went over the SATA ports. With the low profile and left angle I was able to have enough clearance to install the card and use the SATA ports. I thought that it would not fit securely because it does not have the locking latch, but it fits pretty tight.

Specs for this cable & what they mean
I'm writing this to report three facts about this StarTech SATA12LA1 cable that are not completely clear from Amazon's description.1) Both connectors are receptacle type (formerly known as female). This makes the cable suitable for connecting a SATA hard (or optical) drive to a motherboard.2) One connector is straight, the other is left angle. Left angle means that when the angled connector is attached to a hard drive, the cable dresses naturally "up," or toward the label side of the drive. (If the cable should dress "down," or toward the circuit board side of the drive, use a right-angle cable such as the StarTech SATA12RA1.)3) Although not stated in the description, this is a SATA III cable, rated at 6 Gbps, according to StarTech's website. This cable specification is important for reliable connections to recent-vintage SATA III drives. For me, these look like the correct kind to add a second drive to a HP Pavilion h8-13xx series desktop. As to quality, based on other posts I'm hopeful, so I'm giving the item 5 stars for now. I'll update this post as necessary once mine have arrived and have been put into service.Update 8/30/2013: Cable works fine and dresses as expected. Connector on motherboard end has no retaining latch (would be nice) but it grips the mating contacts fairly tightly, so I'm happy, and am keeping the 5* rating.

Cable for hardrive cloning.
The cable worked just fine to clone a new hard drive. My only problem was that the angled connector was the oppositate of what my old computer uses. I used it upsidedown and removed the cable when i was done with it. If this had to be left in place i would not be able to put the cover back on my computer. Worked out ok anyway.

Perfect for the job
I put a second hard drive in a new Dell computer and the cable that came with the drive was really too long. I got this one in both a left angle and right angle form; since the price was pretty reasonable, I figured it was better than having to order a second one if I got it wrong the first time. It fit perfectly for me, and the angle made it stay out of the way of some other components in the computer. It is sturdy enough and the drive it connected seems to enjoy the cable.

Good quality at a good price.
Fits nicely on my Dell desktop. I did not want a straight USB sticking out on my front USB port but rather a connection that angled down flush with the cabinet to minimize wear and tear on the port. This solved my need.

CAN BE the perfect cable for the job
As another reviewer stated, "Be careful with right versus left cable." This one is super if you use the angled end coming up from your hard drive cage, which for me was helpful because the cage in the CM Storm Scout case is backed up pretty far against the right side panel. Conversely, you wouldn't want to use the angled end of this one on your optical drive at the top of your case since the angled end would guide the cable up when it needs to "go down" to the mobo. Also be careful about the length: 12" sounds long enough but when it gets twisted even a little is seems quite shorter--mine barely made it from HDD to micro-ATX mobo in a mid-tower case.ASUS P5VD2-MX SE moboPentium E2160 @ 1.80GHzNVIDIA GeForce GTS 4502x WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPMCORSAIR HX850 WattCM Storm Scout CaseAcer G276HL Dbd 27-InchWindows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
