My daughter loved this sewing kit. Everything you need is in the kit except for scissors. The kit comes with a cute felt clam shell storage bag. Instructions are mostly illustrated and step-by-step. The mermaid also comes with adorable accessories to make. My daughter made a pink felt clam shell, an orange starfish, 2 yellow crowns, and felt clothing for the mermaid to wear. The little felt purse that my daughter made for the mermaid is too cute! The cute comes with plenty of floss and both metal and plastic sewing needles.

I basically had to do this for my 9 year old grand daughter. I'm a lifelong seamstress, and it was even a challenge for me. Pictorial instructions confusing. Stitching doesn't hold up to playing with and changing the clothing.

My 7 year old daughter loves this! There were a few confusing parts that we just made up but it is great quality materials and a fun project. She needed quite a bit of help sewing the actual mermaid but was able to sew her clothes independently—included threading the needle! Definitely recommend and am happy with the product.
