Moen Bathroom Safety 18-Inch Stainless Steel Modern Shower Grab Bar for Handicapped or Elderly, YG0718BL

We had a bathroom remodeled for a walk-in shower. Westshore Homes did a fabulous job. Since then my 89 year old mother-in-law moved in with us and uses that bathroom all the time. She has a nurse that comes to check on her weekly and they recommended some additional grab bars on the outside of the shower. I called Westshore and they wanted over $325 for this. I wanted it to match and finally figured out what Moen product they used and purchased this. It is exactly what they used and works great for its intended purpose. I purchased a 12" and 18" for less than the one 12" from Westshore Homes.

Love the look of this in my shower. I bit more pricier, but as you only do a remodel once every 20-40 years, it's worth getting something I really like. Well built and thought out with rubber grips on the inside bar face. Safety first, budget second.

This is a nice safety bar. It looks better than I envisioned. It goes well with my inlaws' tacky wood paneling

Have installed in two bathrooms and they add a decorative touch to a necessary feature.

Seems well made. Very sturdy. Installation is a little fiddly because you need to peek behind the base covers and work very close to the wall with a little allen wrench (supplied). Came with extra set screws which is good because you need to back them out almost entirely during installation and I dropped one.The color is a bit brighter than my brushed shower valve (Riobel) and shower and tube spouts (Jaclo). It appears from the pics that the handle is completely tubular and round but the inner part of the handle has 3 indents and each has a black silicone grip material. I would have preferred if the entire thing was tubular and might not have bought these had I been able to notice this detail from the picture. For this reason I rate the product 4 stars instead of 5. But if you don't mind this feature then I think you'd be happy with this grab bar.Details say "12 inch" but the overall length is 15" to the outside of the base covers. The posts and mounting brackets are 12" on center. If you mount this vertically over a stud then you can mount both ends into the stud. But if you are going to install horizontally it won't span the distance between standard studs (16" on center). Since I was putting up new shower walls I put in a backing plate between two studs where I wanted the horizontal handle to be mounted. If you can't get at least one end into wood studs or backers (both ends even better) I'm not sure I would trust this or any handle with just hollow-wall anchors. That said, some hollow-wall anchors are rated for quite a lot of weight.Recap: 1) might not match your other brushed fixtures especially if they are more on the pewter side 2) has rubber grips on inner part of handle 3) make sure you can securely mount this or any 12" bar.

It’s very modern looking - chrome & is very sturdy. It doesn’t look like the typical handicap bar. Very stylish.

These are the very best grab-bars on the market, IMHO. They are stylish, come in a handy variety of lengths, retain their bright chrome finish for many years so far, and the little rubber safety grips on the back side do indeed provide extra grip security. Installing them might be a bit tricky, (hint - make a mounting template for yourself before start. ..you'll understand when you get there.) Once you've installed one, it's easy-peasy to do more! We have these in every shower and tub in the house, and if we ever down-size, we'll be putting them into our new home, too, for sure!

These are excellent, beautiful chrome grab bars. They are sturdy and the quality is top notch. Easy to install with good instructions. I placed them on the wall to hold when entering or exiting 2 high bathtubs we have in our bathrooms. They are expensive compared to other grab bars but I feel well worth the price looking at the quality of these chrome grab bars.
