self improvement is key - lead with kindess and empathy
This book is so beautifully written. There is heart, guidance, self improvement (personally and professionally). The writing style is like you are sitting with a friend hearing her life story but in a way where you both leave laughing, crying and better for the time spend together. I would recommend this book for all. Even if you don't want to be the story teller, we all need to learn how to pitch a belief, theory, new idea or concept. This book shows all the different writing styles and methods to make your story land. I highly recommend. Enjoy, I did.

An essential guide for ANY industry!
I absolutely devoured this book! I love how Miri emphasizes the importance of empathy and finding a universal truth, which allows you to relate to anyone. I also love how she explains 8 different story structures! You get way more than just one rinse and repeat option. This book has been my go-to guide as I am working on re-branding myself after losing my job during COVID. I love how no matter who you, where you are in life, or what your current job is, there is VERY valuable information for everyone. Growth is the key to success, and this book will is the roadmap!

Look elsewhere.
A book about storytelling needs to be written better. Brand Storytelling is tedious, jargon heavy, and stuffs dozens of superfluous words on each page. Maybe this passes for good writing in the kind of corporate environments this book is geared towards? It doesn't work on a general-audiences nonfiction level though. The author drives some minor points into the ground and breezes past others without contextualizing them, giving the impression that no matter how deep her understanding of the subject, she can't really explain it. The whole thing is also just really, really sloppy. In one early chapter, a sentence about "four pillars" is repeated, word for word, with one paragraph between the duplicated sentence that describes an entirely different set of five pillars. I'm honestly a little shocked that passages like this, along with the book's other usage and style issues, made it past an editor. Someone who works in an enterprise-level business and is used to decoding bad business writing may have a better time muddling through this. But most folks will do better by adding a Writing 101 type of book to their stack of branding/marketing reads.
