Over all nice pedal
After seeing a John Mayhall concert and seeing guitarist Rocky Athas, I was impressed with the great sound he was getting from a rented Line 6 amplifier. I was real close to the stage so I could see that he was just using a couple of overdrive pedals. When he kicked in a tube screamer that is when he really sounded great. So I bought a Maxon OD9 and love it. I was in the market for a clean boost pedal and I saw this Tech 21 Overdrive with a boost. My first impression was WOW... This is built well and really easy to use. The sound is great and it is really convenient to have the boost right there. When comparing the sound with my Maxon the sound is very close, but the Maxon definitely sounds better. Not a ton better, but I did a blind sound test with my girl friend and my band mates and they all picked the Maxon as sounding the best. So my overall impression is that this is a great pedal because of its convenience and the sound is acceptable. I only gave it four stars because the sound is just below par in my opinion. The clean boost is sounds great so I will probably keep this pedal around as a second overdrive and for the clean boost.

Best OD and Boost out there!!!
I was looking for a new OD and separate boost for my board. Obviously I was looking at Tube Screamers and the EHX Boost. Both together would have ran me up into the $160 range and would have taken upb2 spots on my pedalboard. After tons of YouTube research and trying different ODs I decided to give this a try. It's AWESOME for Blues and gives you that 'Tom Petty' overdrive that I've been looking for for years and if you crank the drive knob you can easily get that 60's/70's Led Zepplin/Jimi Hendrix and even up to Black Sabbath distortion tones!!! On top of that, the 20db boost is COMPLETELY TRANSPARENT after the OD circuit so it doesn't change your tone at all and let's you cut through for soloing! At $90, get the sound you've been looking for and save yourself a spot on your board and about $70 with this awesome 2 in 1!!!

The perfect Blues-Rock Jam pedal.
Great pedal with a wide variety of crisp and biting tones to fat, silky smooth tones perfect for clean jazz to blues-rock overdrive sounds and a nice addition of a 21db boost. I use it for blues jams and rehearsals when I don't need to bring an amp. I typically play John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers cover of "Hideaway", "Before You Accuse Me," "One Way Out" and similar tunes. This pedal helps me nail those tones with minimal tweaking when time is of the essence and I don't want to change the host's amp settings.

But I was disappointed.
Didn't perform as well as I had hoped, but I don't have others to compare it to, so maybe my expectations were unreasonable. But I was disappointed.

Impressive Pedal
This pedal is awesome!!!I'm using it thru a 4203 marshallCombo amp. I use the pedal for a thick chuncky rythem sound. And for blues riffs. And a combination of the Boost overdrive and distortion from my amp for sizzling solos. The boost is great if you need to stand out more. I've been playing 30+ years and I'm very pleased with this pedal.

Good pedal
Good pedal that can be used for boost or gain. Good overdrive sound.

My favorite overdrive. A keeper.
It can sound like a tube screamer TS-808, but it's way more versatile. The OD side can be used as a mid boost or top boost with the drive settings lower and depending on how you set the sparkle knob. It also can get more crunch than a typical TS type pedal can get alone. It's also very low noise compared to many other overdrives I own. The boost is a nice touch and also comes in handy. I have to admit I quite like the way it looks. The pictures don't do justice to how it looks in person.
