the C++ std libs might offer far better design and speed
Bjarne Stroustrup has this intuitive, no-nonsense way of explaining things. He keeps emphasizing the philosophy of working with the C++ language to achieve performance, and I think this is a valid philosophy indeed! Truly, it makes sense. I myself have been guilty of using low-level C mechanisms to 'extract higher performance'. Hard though it might be to accept to several people, the C++ std libs might offer far better design and speed!The prose is straightforward, and the examples are no-frills code segments that directly get to the point. Excellent book!

Epic tome on C++11
Coming from the creator of the language, this book is a must-have reference for the professional C++11 programmer. Thoroughly updated for C++11, this epic describes and uses the latest standardized features of the language. This book is to C++11, what I sorely miss with K&R with C99 and C11. The author's commitment to the evolution and learning of the language is truly commendable. It makes you aware of all language features and many library features.Currently only available is the pricey US edition. The release of an Indian edition would make the book affordable to more students and junior professionals.

Good for C++ expert
Nice book on C++. Recommended by a colleague who is an expert on C++. Initially difficult to comprehend but you will find it useful gradually. Better to buy kindle version as it is cheaper than hard copy version

Complete documentation on C++11
I thought that I knew C++ until I came across some code that I didn't understand. So far this book hasn't covered the concepts that I've seen but I'm only 50% the way through. This book covers everything that you need to know about C++11. I might have to get a successive edition.

definitely must have book.
I have read few other C++ reference/ tutorial books. However, I have always felt, that that was some lack of understanding of C++ philosophy. Just like the author mentioned, I became a guy who wastes a lot of time dealingwith detail things. Each line of code show you how C++ should be used. To appreciate what this book want to say,reader should have more computer programming knowledge of year 2 University stduents.(I mean over Diploma)It is really good reference but It shuld not be a tutorial book for beginners. Beginners should read 'ProgrammingPrinciples and Practice Using C++' .
