1. Gotta wonder why FORD didn't think of this? Their tail gates all drop down with a slam and could hurt someone.2. This device works great upon initial install!3. EASY to install, they even give you the big torx wrench to unscrew that big bolt at the top holding up the tail gate drop stop cable. (You need to install the upper attach point for the gas spring there).4. The gas spring works in REVERSE of a common gas spring -- it resists OPENING, as opposed to the usual PUSH OPEN that we use gas springs for (things like tail window LIFT springs on an SUV).5. So... as many have commented on these devices, the gas spring eventually FAILS to do that job! It loses its slow-down effect, and you're back where you started!6. I saw some comments that this one fails in about 3 months.7. We'll SEE! I'm hoping it holds its slow-down ability for a few years!8. Good thing... IAQWE follows up with each sale, and promises to REPLACE anything that fails! I don't know for how long, but... IF the gas spring ever loses its slow-down abilities, I'll be asking them for a replacement! So should you!

I absolutely love this tailgate helper!! Now I don't have to hold my tailgate while lowering to avoid it slamming down and possibly breaking the cables. I just open the handle and let it down nice and slow. I personally think all trucks should come standard with this accessory. Sure would make unloading and loading cargo alot easier especially while trying to open the tailgate while your hands are full. Highly recommend purchasing one for all truck owners.

I gotta tell ya first, I am not a handyman at all. I was a tad nervous even daring the straightforward install of this little gem. 20 minutes and I was done. Shouldn’t have taken that long!It does exactly what I wanted. It’s not slow, which would make me nuts, and it cushions the tailgate’s opening just perfectly to give a sense of premium trim to the truck.I’d definitely buy again

It worked as intended. I had some difficulty completing the installation though because it did not come with the protective pads that go between the trucks surface and the metal plate. Additionally, it did not come with the required wrench. I had to spend more money to buy one. Otherwise, this could have been a 5 star review.

I was hoping this would be a good buy as I have kids and was worried one of them will get hit with the tailgate. Well instal was a breeze. But the shock it self i feel like is not strong enough. The first 80% of the opening process was still opening way too fast. It only slowed down when you got to the last 15% to 10% of the closing process. I feel like the shock itself is not strong enough for the weight of the tailgate. Very disappointing

Literally one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon! Huge difference in tailgate drops. Drops at perfect speed. Not to fast and not to slow!! Buy It!!! Easy install 10 minutes max

Why isn’t this part of the factory build? I don’t understand. It makes life so much better. My 8 year old can safely open the tailgate without fear of concussion.

Bad quality product. It’s easy to install and all but it will fall apart in couple weeks

Delivery was fast but I was waiting for a warm day to install and this was it.Took all of 15 minutes. Hardest part was loosening the bolts on the tailgate to attach these extra plates.Works as expected but my experience with after-market struts (tailgate on station wagon for example), is that they don't last as long as OEM. Be that as it may, initial impression is it works perfectly and as others have said, should have been installed as original equipement.
