Good Magnet, Nice Accessories
I have been looking for magnets to use for magnet fishing both around the house and in lakes and rivers. The ones that I have bought previously were very powerful rare earth magnets, but they were quite small so the surface area able to attract a magnetic object was also quite small. I purchased this one knowing that it had a larger surface area on which to attract objects. I tested the magnet's strength on a tractor implement that has probably 3/8" inch plate steel, which has become my go to testing location for new magnets. While the magnet is quite strong, it seems as though it is more than 20 pounds weaker than a 170 pound magnet I have. This is all by feel, as I have not tested them with a scale. Either way, it is a very nice, and very strong magnet. Make sure you explain to anyone who you let hold it that if they get a body part between the magnet and metal, an injury will surely occur. I was confused by the black objects in the picture, I didn't know if they were the actual magnets that were attached to another piece of metal housing, but they are actually a magnet cover or buffer. They are plastic pieces with a little bit of metal in them just to protect both the magnet and the user. I thought it was a very nice touch to have those included. I look forward to using this magnet for fishing for dropped hardware around the farm, as well as in bodies of water. Thanks for reading.

My new fishing magnet
I love it it’s really powerful! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who asks about it!😊

Good power, small size!
This is one fine magnet but it could use more power. But, that doesn’t mean it is weak. I was able to transfer a broken box of 16d common nails that I could not reach to a different box by tying a rope to the eyebolt and swinging it to the broken box....did not take long and the money saved was more than the magnet! I’ll recommend this to friends!

Excellent product, well made, incredibly strong magnets
I purchased this retreiving magnet to pick up nails in our backyard after having our roof redone. I tied some twine to the metal ring and then walked around the backyard swinging the magnet back and forth over the grass and I found almost 10 rusty nails along with other miscellaneous screws and sharp metal objects. We have 3 little kids and this magnet did exactly what I was hoping it would do. The price of this magnet is well worth the cost when compared to a rusty nail in the foot and an emergency room visit. It also comes with 4 sturdy caps that attach to the magnets so that you can store it in a metal tool box or place it on metal surfaces without it sticking (WHAT A GREAT IDEA and VERY useful) Highly recommend this magnet.

Works great to balance my telescope
It works great to balance my large telescope. I put a rag around it so it doesn't scratch the surface of my telescope. I actually use 1 or 2 of them depending on how much I need to balance the telescope.

Good product.
I purchased this to attach a camera to it due to the cameras weak magnet. The magnet works great. Can be a little tough to release but thats what I like about it.

Not exactlly what i had in mind, depends on what you need it for.
I bought this product to use for "magnet fishing"- I'm not really crazy about it in that context. It works, but let me break down the pros and cons.Pros: It has a nice strong hook to attach a good rope to, you should tighten it up when you get it and if you really want to go all out you could use some lock tight on the threads. I haven't found a need to do this, but others recommend it. It's fairly strong, you wouldn't want your fingers between it and a piece of bridge railing, it will pick up fishing lures, pliers, random small debris, etc. The rectangular shape makes it harder to get wedged in the rocks, and if your rope and your pulling power is as such you can move some fairly large rocks without it breaking.Cons: It isn't one big ol' magnet on the bottom of this thing- it's actually 4 smaller magnets, so you lose some surface area there. When you throw it out in front of you it tends to ride the drag back on it's side or worse tilted slightly skyward, this makes the magnetic surface area almost nothing. I'm not sure if a round magnet would fix that or not, haven't tried one yet. I mentioned it's pulling power in the pros for small objects- but the con is that I don't think it would pull up a heavy (more than 5-7lbs) or an oddly shaped (round) object- for example a civil war cannon ball or artillery shell.- so to sum it up, It's not a bad product for a lot of applications. It's well constructed, decent quality. I'm sure it would be great in a work shop for few applications. Not the greatest for magnet fishing, but if your just looking for a relatively inexpensive thing to throw down off the side of a bridge when the fish aren't biting to amuse yourself, you can give this one a try. I have picked up some neat small stuff with it, but If your really serious about magnet fishing- get something else.
