Iznogoud and the Day of Misrule Review: PRobably Better for Adults - I bought this for my 11-year-old son. He enjoys comic books, and I'm always looking for comics that are appropriate for his age. He has read the Tin Tin series and enjoys the Lucky Luke series, as well. But, he doesn't enjoy this series as much. He told me that the stories are confusing and he doesn't understand some things. I haven't read this book, so I can't help him. I suspect adults would understand this series, though. Review: Yes, they are for adults... - Like one reviewer said, "probably better for adults". Well, it's because it IS for adults, or at least teen up. Many of these French/Belgian Graphic novels have mistakenly been marketed towards children in the US. That includes Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Iznogoud, Johan and Peewit (by Peyo, the creator of The Smurfs) and The Bluecoats.... There are many more, but these are the most well known. A child can enjoy them, but they won't get all the puns, and most definitely not the historical/political jokes. Heck, there's many adults that don't get them! ;) It's a pity, that because of faulty marketing, these excellent Comic Books don't reach their intended audience... :(
