Extremely Satisfied with purchase
For the price you cannot beat the quality.Bar arrived as ordered. Within a cardboard tube and that tube inside a box. Bar has a plastic cover on it, that was torn up a bit (not a big deal at all bar was in great shape). Please make sure you wipe off the oil/residue from the bar once you receive it. Once you wipe it off it'll take about 4-5 quality uses for the oil/residue to come off the hand areas -- but don't fret; the knurling is pretty aggressive. The bar will not slip in your hands, just trust me on that. I curled with 100 lbs on the bar, and the thing I really enjoy about this bar is that it aggressive enough that the bar will not slip, WHEN USED PROPERLY, but not aggressive enough to cut and cause bleeding. I truthfully believe it's a happy medium, and quite frankly that's the knurling I look for in an EZ Curl Bar. If you are worried about the knurling, just use some gloves to lift. The bar is comfortable for me, I've used it wide, inside, and even against the plate area. Fits my Rep Fitness Bumpers perfectly, and fits my collars just fine that I use on my barbell. I did purchase the black oxide version as it fits my style of equipment, but that is up to you. I love it, and you will too.Happy Lifting !

... in an E-Z curl bar - one that was good quality, took Olympic plates and had ergonomically correct ...
This is everything I was looking for in an E-Z curl bar - one that was good quality, took Olympic plates and had ergonomically correct grips (I'm a little prone to tennis / golfers elbow when doing some types of curls). I found some of the other reviews helpful regarding the grips (they're great for me) and a recommendation to buy the chrome bar vs. the black bar as the black one may be more prone to rust over time. The chrome bar I purchased did come with the nice screw-down ring collars shown in the photo, even though the description said collars not included. The collars have a metal ring insert, so the tension screw applies an even pressure to the bar and doesn't ding it up. Maybe the collars aren't included with the black bar, as they're not shown in it's photo - ??.Not much more to say about a crooked steel bar. I have a couple other Body Solid / Powerline items and both had and have a fair amount of faith in the quality of the brand. So far, everything I've gotten from them has been good equipment at a fair price - worth the few extra bucks over the cheaper big box store brands.

A Good Quality EZ Curl Bar with Extreme Knurling
The Body Solid 47" EZ Curl bar has met my expectations for the price paid. I opted for the black oxide/phosphate finish because I wanted a finish that would be a little "grippier" than standard chrome. The sleeves spin freely, but are not entirely smooth in their travel. That said, they are entirely satisfactory for use in a home gym setup, with the main point being that they are quiet. The bar arrives with a light coating of some kind of reddish/brown oil to inhibit rust and it must be wiped off thoroughly or it will stain everything. There is a small tag on the bar instructing the end user to clean the bar before use.Packaging for shipment is minimal; it arrived loose packed in a cardboard tube that was already cracked. The bar itself is only sleeved with a light plastic bag that was torn through in several areas. As a result, there were one or two places on the bar that had some of the black oxide rubbed off. I think that having some loose fill paper packing on each end of the tube would be a simple and inexpensive method to prevent damage during shipping.Specifications for my bar were:Overall Length: 47"Space between sleeves: 31.5"Sleeve Loading Area: 6.75"Bar Stock Diameter: 1"Sleeves attached with Allen BoltsThe knurl on the bar is probably the most aggressive that I have ever encountered on a piece of fitness equipment. The phrase "cheese grater" comes to mind. Even with heavy callous on my hands I could start to feel the bite after 8 sets. Between the super sharp knurl and the oxide finish this bar will NEVER slip in your hands. The bends in the EZ curl bar seem about average for this type of bar, comfortable for both supinated and pronated grip. My quick lock collars work perfectly with the bar (which does NOT come with collars, despite what the product pictures might have you believe). The bends in the bar are long enough to use fat grips comfortably. The bar is balanced when held directly in the center so there is no offset in the weight or bend of the bar itself. Slop in the sleeves is probably less than 1/8".The knurl on this bar is extremely aggressive, which makes it a difficult recommendation for the average user. If you are looking for a good quality EZ curl bar and don't mind (or are looking for) an extra grippy bar, this one is a good choice.
