[edit of review] Beautiful, snazzy, tasteful, cheap. Assembly/disassembly is TEDIOUS.
Quick edit here since I have bought four more of these since my first one, obviously I love it. I'll say again that it looks like it should cost at least four times as much as it does. Unfortunately, assembly/disassembly continues to be its only weak point.. It took 2-3 fairly capable guys an hour or two to get these very fussy threaded pipe sections screwed together just right on each lamp.. But once it's done, it's done, unless you have to take it apart again at some point. Also I have grown to like the retro 3-way mechanism more (get a 3-way LED bulb!) as I have gotten less enchanted with smart bulbs. Most people just want to walk up to the darn light and turn the switch.. Having to futz around with a phone or get Alexa to hear you right just isn't any value added for most people in most situations, and if their manually switching the light screws up the "smart" function, it's not so smart after all. (Of course MY lights are smart, changing color and brightness and white color tempterature etc, because I'm a nerd.)This torchiere is elegant and looks great. My perfect balance between fancy and plain. It's pretty obviously a reproduction, but handsomely designed and constructed, and wonderfully cheap. It looks pure black to me, with tiny subtle rings of gold around the pleasantly substantial base. It arrives as a series of tubes (like the internet!) with long and fragile threaded joints. You'll want some WD-40. Even with that helpful lubricant liberally applied, there's one joint I can't get all the way screwed together. Other than this ridiculous overthreading, assembly is easy: one base, five tubes, one top piece, one nicely frosted shade. The tubes are already strung together with the electrical cord. No tools required.Note that it's a 3-way lamp so works best with a 3-way bulb (not included). The 3-way LED bulbs seem expensive, and I'm sure the lamp would work with a 1-way bulb. The whole 3-way concept is antique and far inferior to a dimmer, preferably a smart dimmer, paired with a dimmable LED bulb (many are not dimmable and there's a slight price premium). For now, it's an affordable and attractive lamp, cheap at $35 or so. Classiest things in my living room for sure. Well, classiest lamps.

price/performance ratio here is excellent
This lamp isan incredible value. Looks way more expensive than it was. I researched a bunch of floor lamps and torchieres and settled on this one. I'm glad i did. the frosted glass shade is classy and the look is elegant. No dimmer, but adding a 3-way LED bulb (50/75/100w) gives it some versatility in terms of mood-setting. I placed this in the corner of my small bedroom and must say, it makes an immediate and noticeable difference. I have no overhead lighting so needed extra lighting and the height is great, as the lit surface area extends to the ceiling and inobtrusively illuminates a good portion of the room. The styling is classic with a hint of modern and should go with many different types of decor. The lamp was easy to assemble-- just screw the sections in place, uncrew the top retainer, add the shade, screw the retainer back in, add the bulb, plug it in and voila! After reading reviews before purchasing, I knew to spray lubricant on the threaded sections of the shaft. This makes installation pretty easy. You do want to be careful with the shade as it's glass but the shaft is sufficiently thick enough to inspire confidence in its durability. This lamp is miles above the el cheapo IKEA lamp i had which broke that they dont make any more, and way better made and finished than the $20 IKEA torchiere with a plastic shade. At around $40 plus bulb plus tax, I feel like I got my money's worth, Now I'm thinking of getting another one for the living room.

Beautiful Lamps
I love these lamps. They look so elegant and expensive. They are super easy to assemble and came wrapped very nicely and in protective wrapping. I separately purchased a light bulb that is controlled by a controller. So I just have to click the controller to turn them on and off and with so many color options and brightness.

Attractive and heavy
The lamp is as displayed in ad photos. It has substantial heft too it...base is heavy and poles are a good weight. The marbled glass shade is beautiful...glows a soft gold/yellow and throws lots of light...I used a 75 watt bulb. As mentioned in some of the other reviews the threading on the poles isn't the greatest...its hard to lineup and get started. I had one section that spun together freely until the last third of the connection and then got stuck...I couldn't back it out so used a lot of force to continue to spin it forward and eventually got the connection gap to close fully. If you line the threads up and make sure you stay level while spinning the poles together they will stay straight. My lamp(s) look great. But be forewarned that the threading is not great.

Good value
Alignment was a touch off where the column threads into the base but it isn't noticeable once in use and these are really nice compared to others in the price range.
