Ignore the bad reviews
I was skeptical buying this as the 1 star reviews said that it didn't fit the shaft of the mixer. It was too loose. I hated the original one that had a gray residue on it if you washed it in the dishwasher. I bought the one with the plastic coating but it chipped over time. I tried the plastic one with the rubber edges that scrapped the bowl. It broke in one year and always put a stress on the motor. Sadly I was ready to return to the original one but saw this. I have an old Pro 6 mixer. At the very least I could return it. I have an old sugar cookie recipe that is very stiff. I put the paddle on the shaft and yes, it was loose. My husband said it did't make a difference. So I tried the cookie recipe. It didn't bang around, it just acted like the original. It took me the same time as normal and the mixer didn't struggle. It is very heavy compared to the other paddles. Seems to be very sturdy. I will lower this review if it doesn't hold up but honestly I believe it will.

Works better than my original.
I have a KitchenAid 6 qt. professional 610 bowl lift which is at least 15 years old but still works great, kudos to KitchenAid. We recently moved, and had a little stand mixer with we gave away, and my dough hook and flat beater accidentally got put in that bowl and were given away. So I had to order a replacement. After reading all the reviews, I ordered this flat beater. The one that came with the KitchenAid, was a little better than base metal, this is heavy, and believe it or not fits better and clears the bowl better, then my original KitchenAid. It fit the attachment spindle perfectly, there was no rattling, looseness, I couldn't be happier, and I'm glad I made the investment. This one was a little more expensive than some of the other ones that were listed, but it is absolutely worth it if you bake a lot of bread and make heavy dough. The only drawback, is that it is not polished on the undersides of the beaters but the top only. If you look at the pictures I have shown you two pictures of the polished side, and the unpolished side you can see that you have to clean a little harder where it's not polished. It does not detract from it's use at all, my husband is a master tool maker, and will polish the underside for me, but other than that it is excellent.

Does not touch sides of Kitchen Aid Epicurean 6 qt lift bowl...
Does not fit my 6 qt lift bowl kitchen aid epicurean...it is at least an inch too narrow. I’m returning. However, if it fit I would have loved it, the quality was very good!

All steel
It's all steel, no aluminum. As other reviewers stated, it's a little loose fitting at the hub, but hasn't been an issue w/me yet. Once the mixer's going, the beater stays firmly in place. A little smaller than the original but fits in bowl great, no rubbing. Comes out fine in the dishwasher.

didn't quite fit the bill
I bought this beater because it was a stainless steel finish and I have been unhappy with the nylon coated beaters for Kitchen Aid mixers that tend to chip. The seller did say that it would work for my particular mixer (a Pro 600). It was just a little smaller than a Kitchen Aid beater and therefore I was doing way more scraping. When I tried to beat three eggs, the beater didn't hit them at all. Sad, because I really like the idea of non coated.

GOod quality but...
Did not fit my mixer although it was listed in the description. I would check with Kitchenaid first and ask what the appropriate flat beater model is for your specific mixer. They do not have this on their website, I had to contact KA customer service and ask.

Better than original
After a few months use I wanted to write a quick report. The paddle is very sturdy and quality made. Ours is not loose,, like some other reviews have mentioned, although the gearing in the machine allows some play back and forth. Even at the highest speed it stays on well. It does clear the bowl by about 1/4 inch, but has no more gap then the original. Really now, you can't have a stainless steel paddle scraping the bowl, right? With no chance of flaking off the coating like the old paddle did (which I'm sure we swallowed), this is far superior to the Kitchenaid paddle.

Fits loosely but works
Purchased this as a replacement of my original blade. This fits much looser and can pop off on thicker batter but overall does the job. Doesn't clean as easily as the baked enamel blade but soaking it longer solves the problem.

Almost OK
Like the stainless steel, but it doesn’t really fit all that well, doesn’t quite reach the side at or the bottom well enough

much better than coated beaters
Very easy to clean. Used for pastry dough and it doesn't stick. So easy to clean. Blueberry Lane Bakery

Hooray for non-leaded options. We need more!
Sadly this does not fit the Professional 6000HD model.

This did not fit my 6qt mixer. When I used it the beater hit the sides of the bowl.
This product did not fit my 6qt Kitchen Aid mixer. When I went to use it the beater continously hit the side of the bowl.
