Great boots, but don't expect to replicate the deal I got
OK, these are fabulous hiking boots for a fabulous price (less than 50% list), but don't expect to replicate what happened to me. My husband and I are avid hikers and both wear size 12 (M12 and W12). These boots were listed as WOMENS, and I intended to buy them for myself, At the time, I was suspicious because I'd never seen a Merrell Moab in a GTX in W12. Sure enough, when I clicked to buy them, they showed up in my basket as M12. Since I wanted them either way, I bought them. We eagerly awaited them to see which of us got the great pair of boots for half price. When they came, sure enough they were M12, so I gave them to my husband. Lucky him. (Later I bought a pair of regular waterproof Women's Moab and they didn't have enough shock absorption for my joints, so it worked out well.) I'm sure these went for a song because they were incorrectly listed as W12. They are wonderful boots and he loves them -- very supportive, sturdy, easy to lace, not too heavy, perform well in mud, and decent breathability. The color is also interesting -- it looks grey in some light, muted purple in others, and gray-green in still others. Really attractive high-performing boots for a great price.--

BEST HIKING BOOTS EVER
I went to the Roan Highlands in NC last month with my Merrell Blaze Aeros which are great water hiking shoes but failed at rocky mountain hikes because my ankles were rolling and twisting like crazy so I knew I needed more support. I got some Columbias but they were stiff and just didnt feel right. These Merrels matched the color and style of my Blaze so I took the plunge and got them. I literally could not shut up about these boots the entire hike. As you can see, my boyfriend was wearing sneakers and I had to walk ahead of him to let him know when something was muddy or wet, he was not a happy camper (literally) and I will be getting him some Merrells for our next hike. I did 2 days and about 15 miles on the Blue Ridge mountains, completed the Sam Knob mountain and Flat Laurel creek trails so these boots saw it all. This trail had lots of mud, rocks, climbs, and water. These boots took it all like a champ including fully submerging them in mud and creeks and they stayed completely dry and look brand new, I was absolutely blown away. The inserts are a bit too thin and tough for my taste so I replaced them with some Vomii memory foam insoles and it was the bees knees. The support is there, the grip is there, the style is there and they are comfy right out of the box. By the end of the hike my ankle did hurt a little but that's normal when breaking in new boots, especially when hiking such uneven and rocky terrain. I normally wear a 9-9.5 but I listened to the reviews and got a 10 and I'm glad I did because anything smaller would have been tight especially around the toe box especially because I wear them with thick Darn Tough socks. I love these boots so much I couldn't stop raving about them and said the first thing I would do when I got back home was write a review on them. Thank you Merrell for making the best hiking boots ever and best of all, they cost way less than the Salewas I was going to get.

absolutely waterproof!!!
First off, I should say that MOABs are the most comfortable hiking boots on the planet. They have great grip, non slip soles. They are the right amount of stiff sole for hiking on rocky conditions, but they give enough to be comfortable. The toe boxes are absolutely lovely. I have friends who have lost toenails because their boots/trail runners don't have a good toe box. You will never have that happen because of these. I can wear my regular size or size up half a size in these. But what I want to really drive home, is that these are waterproof! Not water resistant (which means your feet will get wet). These are absolutely waterproof! I used them last week, and was ankle deep in several stream crossings, and my feet stayed dry. Get em! They're worth the money.

Merrell hiking boots are my first band only choice in hiking boots.
Great boots! Perfect fit out of the box! Merrell hiking boots are always my first and only choice in hiking boots. Superb craftsmanship, so well made! Plenty of companies make their own hiking boots-- those other brands can't compete with Merrell. Merrell hiking boots are the best!

Great Lightweight & Sturdy Hiking Boots
My first ever hiking boots were Merrells and I was hoping these would be as comfortable and supportive. These are even better than I was hoping. These are comfortable with supportive footbed, ample toe box, plus they are waterproof and lightweight. I've worn them hiking and they definitely provided stability and grip while scaling rocks and going up and down steep trails. Highly recommend!

Best hiking boots ever
I bought to wear on excursions on a cruise. Ended up loving them so much wore them everyday I got off the ship whether hiking or not. Great shoes and so comfortable. The arch support is good and they are very lightweight but seems to be really durable! Highly recommend but I did size up by one size and fit was perfect

Mostly Good
These boots meet most of my needs, though I would change a couple of things if I could. The toe box is exceedingly roomy. I needed to put something in to take up some space so my toes don't flop around. I wish they had a bellows tongue like my previous pair of boots. This tongue is just attached at the bottom. You have to make sure and tuck it in to keep snow out for example. On the plus side, I got a very good deal. They are comfortable. The Vibram sole tread looks aggressive and durable. They are Goretex. And they are non-leather, which is my preference. Time will tell how well they hold up. I always bought Asolo boots in the past and they would last me a good 5 years.
