Easy and effective
This does a very good job of gradually darkening hair with each wash. Be careful not to splatter. I use it twice per week to maintain just the right tone of gray in my hair.

A more natural looking alternative to traditional hair dye
I am almost 55 years old. My beard is pretty much completely white (yes, not gray, actually white). My sides are pretty much the same way. The only little bit of my original dark brown hair that is left is on top and that has become less and less as time goes on. I have been using this product on both my hair and beard for a couple years or so now and had great results. I have seen some reviews reporting hair loss. My hair is pretty fine and I have had no hair loss using this product. This is the best alternative out there to traditional hair dyes. Do not expect instant results. It is not meant to work that way. It is a gradual change. When I first started using it, I used it every day until I got to the color I liked. It took around 2 weeks or so I think. Since then I use it 2 to 3 times a week and that's it. A small dab for my hair and a small dab for my beard is all it takes. You do not have to use a large amount. One tube should last you for a while. It does not work as well on very short hair. I keep my sides buzzed and it does darken some, just not as much as the longer hair. So it does look like I have a little gray on the sides, but I do not mind this. It looks much more natural than all my hair just being one solid color from hair dye. And it is not white, it still darkens some. I use this on my beard as well and have from the start. I do not think there is much difference from the Control GX they sell for beards. But as I said, it does not work as well on shorter hair. So if you have a close cropped beard, your results will vary. I do get some darkening of the fingernails, but I just use a fingernail file on them to remove the stains about once every couple months. Not a big deal and small price to pay for the convenience and natural results. So if you are tired of trying cover your gray with traditional hair dye, this product is definitely worth a try. I am very happy that I discovered it and I will never go back to traditional hair dyes. Natural looks, convenience and great cost make this a must have and a great value. Highly recommended.

Great product, just really hard to mix the ingredients inside.
The product works great, no problems there. It works, does what it says, doesn't smell or burn the skin. However, it's not mixed well in the tube and is very hard to get it to mix. I've used 4-5 tubes of the shampoo and the beard wash each and experienced this every time. The first half of the product is very light brown, almost beige and thick. The second half is pure black and thin as water. Having used regular Just For Men touch of gray products I assume the first half is the activator and the second half is the color. Even shaking this thing until kingdom come won't get the two to mix. I usually end up squirting just a little of the new tube and mixing it with the end of the last tube to achieve somewhat of a proper mixture :/ If you're brave, i've had the best luck once it's almost half used to blow into the tube, filling it with air and then having some luck shaking it and getting the product inside to mix. If anyone else has any ideas on how to get this to mix better i'd love to hear it!!

It Works But Does Go All Over If You're Not Careful
This stuff works, but it does get all over if you're not careful. It "develops" like film, almost. You don't realize you got it on your shirt until later when you see a black stain. That's why others suggest wearing gloves so it doesn't get under your nails. I actually bought a pair of dishwashing gloves, which go on and off very easily. And I only do it in the shower now, even my beard. If you do it every day you'll see it suddenly start darkening once it reaches a tipping point. Then you can keep going or skip days. I went from salt and pepper gray hair to mostly pepper and a little salt (so it doesn't look ridiculous that a man my age has her black hair). It's a bit of a hassle putting on gloves, putting it in my hair, taking them off and washing my body while it sits, then putting the gloves on and rinsing again, but I'm sticking with it for now. It really doesn't add much more effort.

Kinda amazing, really.
My last haircut was exactly two weeks and one day ago. Lately I'd been noticing in random pictures of me with my kids that the grey in my hair was more prominent than the black, even with hair gel helping to mask the grey. At the barber, seeing all of that grey in stark contrast to the black drape really triggered me to want to do something, but what? I have a buddy who is about the same age and wears his hair short like me, and he started going to get his hair dyed a couple years ago. To be honest, his hair color never looks good. It's either a weird shade of reddish brown, or he looks like a skunk with black tips on white hair, or it looks unnaturally dark for a middle aged dude. All that cost and maintenance to not look good. I had huge reservations in trying Control GX. I read all the reviews. Surely it couldn't actually work the way they describe, could it? It just seems too easy. Well, gents, it really is that easy. And the results really do speak for themselves. Check out my picture. Those are exactly 2 weeks apart, using the shampoo 1-2x a day. Both have my typical amount of hair gel in. The difference is shocking and yet subtle. I think I'm going to go into maintenance mode from here because it still looks natural, just a bit younger. Some notes to help make the experience as positive as possible: 1) I used gloves. Palms only didn't feel like it gave me the control I wanted to get the shampoo where I wanted it, and even when I tried to use palms only I still had light staining of my nails after just one wash. 2) Use and old or grey towel. Preferably an old, grey towel. It WILL stain your towel slightly. 3) I got some light staining of the skin around my hairline initially. It was easy to remove with some exfoliant and scrubbing, but now I'm very careful to only apply the shampoo to my hair (gloves help) and then immediately wipe the skin alone my hairline with freshly washed hands while the shampoo is doing its thing while I wash the rest of me. After I wash my body, I rinse out my hair really well and then wash my face/ears/neck. I'm guessing the shampoo is sitting on my hair for about 4-5 minutes per shower. 4) Rinse your shower walls and floor. Splatters will stain, although they're pretty easy to remove off of our white tile. Thankfully we have one of those separate hand nozzles in the shower, so it's convenient. 5) I find that the dyed hair is a bit duller than natural, which is not an issue for me since my gel has a bit of gloss to it. I think that's it! 2 weeks to a new you! Trust me, I'm as surprised as anyone that something so inexpensive could be so effective and subtle. Oh, and I had no irritation. Good luck!

3-Stars for Effectiveness Hair Dye is Better, Less Messy & Far More Convenient
Not nearly as effective as I thought and you will definitely need to use a dark colored towel to dry your hair. I'm used to hair dyes that you leave in for 5 minutes and presto your hair is back to it's original color. This works more gradually, but it fades away faster too especially do not wash your hair with it every single day or if you swim in a pool every day. Perhaps this was a good invention, but for whatever reason it hasn't worked well for me nor do I like getting stains on my white wall tiles & white Egyption cotton towels. I'll stick with what works best, the hair dye. I only need to use that once every 3-4 weeks, it's more convenient, and there's far less mess.

This best hair color change I have had yet.
I wrote this review during my third week of use. I'm on my 3rd bottle already. I first started using the 2 in 1 back in 2023. The shampoo works far better for grey hair than Grecian Formula that I used to use a a couple of years ago. From November of 2024 to January 2025 I stopped using this shampoo, and during those months I still had some brown hair this shampoo kept my hair from going back to what it was before I started using it. I was really glad I didn't have to all over but my hair did go back from a dark to a light brown withc some grey hair. I still have another week to get my back to being a dark brown color. The only down side to this shampoo is I always don't was wash my hands that good so I do get some minor black stains from time to time. After awhile it washes out. Also you do have to clean your bathroom surfaces after each use while if is wet.. It tells you this in the instruction. I remember reading men will use this dye shampoo and the other like it without reading the instuctions and writing comments about stains left behind. It the users fault not the hair care product because the product. It tells you on the instruction stains must be cleaned immediately. A blue 3M scouring pad and Bath scrub cleaner will remove these stains on depending on the surface type. A fine course sandsponge works great to with making scrathes. For a small bottle it can seem wasteful because because you easily squeeze out more than a quarter size than I would like. I have thinning hair so I don't need a half dollar size of shampoo for daily washing. Even with the cons I still vive this shampoo 5 stats. This is the only thing that is working it's best after each use to bring back much of my brown hair to natural look. My hair since the first month of use back to when I first started with Just For Men definitely doesn't look stupid with tiger stripes of grey hair.

Should Have Tried It Sooner!
This stuff is great! Like my father, I started getting noticeably gray in my 30's. That doesn't really bother me much, but I work in the IT field, and it's hard to get respect in that world when you look like "the old people who don't understand technology". It's a stereotype. I wanted to hide some of the gray, but not bad enough to want to spend a ton of money or time on it. I'm definitely not paying a salon to do it for me. A relative of mine colors his hair, but it takes him a ton of time to do it each time, makes a mess of his bathroom, and sometimes ends up with that greenish hue - definitely not messing with that. This is great! It's literally just like the description says: use it in place of your regular shampoo, leave it on for a few minutes, rinse it out, and watch the grays slowly darken! I usually leave it on for about 4-5 minutes. I used it once a day for the first week, and there was a noticeable improvement by the end of that week. It was too gradual to really notice it each day, which makes it perfect for regular life, but my family could tell by the end of the week. Now that I've got the look I wanted, I use it about 3-4 times a week to maintain. I did notice that it doesn't work nearly as quickly on my beard as the top of my head. By the time the top of my head looked like I wanted, I was just starting to notice the improvement in my beard. It took at least 2 weeks before my beard was where I wanted it. It takes a bit more maintenance too since my beard grows a lot faster than the top of my head. That may vary from person-to-person I'd imagine. Either way, it works! It's very affordable, super easy to use, and looks perfectly natural. GREAT product!
