Great portable, mess free & educational toy your child can use pretty much anywhere.
Love the M&D water WOW products. These are great for travelling, waiting rooms, restaurants...pretty much anywhere you need to keep your child occupied. Just toss these in your purse or diaper bag and you've got ready, mess free entertainment for your little one. This flash card style kit comes with a plastic ring that holds all of the cards as well as the plastic housing for the pen. The ring has plenty of room and doesn't feel cramped at all. You put some water in the included "pen" (I don't fill it, just add a little bit at a time) and give it a little squeeze to wet the brush end and your little one is ready to go. As you run the wet brush across the card the colors become bright and clear. You can see the picture when the card is dry but it appears as though it's coated in a white film, not at all clear, and some items blend in completely until the water is applied.I've noticed with both these and the book style ones that the pages warp with pretty much the first use, thus far this hasn't caused any issues with functionality, they just don't lay as flat as they did fresh out of the package and that really impacts the book style more so than these. There are a lot of cards and it can be a little cumbersome, especially for small hands, if you find this is an issue for your child you could easily just have one subject matter on the ring at a time and store the other two in the box they came in or in a zip lock bag. I usually dump the water out before storing the pen as this seems to be the intelligent thing to do but on the two occasions that I was in a rush & forgot to do this, the pen did not leak. Our 3 yr old really enjoys these and I like how easy they are to use and that they don't require any clean up. With the pages/cards warping so early on I'm interested to see how long they last but so far, so good.

Awesome...can't begin to say how awesome these are!!!
These things are awesome. You can't go wrong with these!! Heck I played with it when it arrived - thought it was awesome to watch it get 'painted' - then watch it vanish (if you have a ceiling fan this can be a quick process with one coat of water!).If your kid is still working on the pressure aspect of coloring & writing (how much pressure to apply when using a paint brush or a crayon or pencil, etc.) then these might not last too long - the film that makes them whited out when dry will peel off if you push the paint brush down too hard (which is easily done by any 2yo I imagine - our first one lasted maybe 2 weeks - but that was 2 weeks of literally daily use). And of course make sure they don't use crayons on this...which my son has certainly done when I wasn't looking. But at this price I think it's way beyond worth it.My son prefers the bound spiral book versions of these - especially the letter one (despite being a vehicle fanatic - he ended up being more fascinated with the letter book - mainly the last page where there's empty space below the letter Z - the colors are super vibrant and he would just paint shapes & basically color on that page with the water paintbrush). I really really really wish they would come out with more versions of those...these might be better for the older kids (where they have the concentration to go from page to page - my kid loses focus in that brief timespan of trying to flip the card over...but hopefully we're almost past that!). But still - these are great...all you need is water....can't get much easier than that!

My daughter loves these
These are great! I love that they are the water pens so I don’t have to worry about markers getting all over everything! We keep it in the car for car rides and it works great by the time my daughter gets to the end the first ones are clear again for her to keep using and playing with them.

Great product for younger toddlers.. even better with a few improvements
Very nice product - hours of entertainment for our 2-year-old - just perfect for restaurants, doctor's offices, etc. Great concept and works great for the most part. My kid loves it.Three ways that M&D could improve this product:1) The opaque white film is not as opaque on this product as it is on the Water WOW spiral books. So there isn't quite the same mystery - my kid can identify each animal/object before he even puts pen to paper. But, he still seems plenty motivated, so I guess it still works.2) The opaque white film is also not that durable. It scratches off easily, when my kid holds the pen at an angle a ridge on it leaves scratch marks.3) The plastic ring is a great add, but there needs to be a better way to store the pen. The plastic blisterpack in which the pen comes packaged has a hole in it so you can add it onto the ring, but it is awkward and bulky. Also there's no top for the pen, which means you can't leave any water in the pen whatsoever before storing it, or it will leak out and permanently damage the cards.I do recommend this product though, as well as the Water WOW books, for younger toddlers, say ages 2-3. I'm guessing older kids with greater physical dexterity would have more fun actually using their imaginations more and coloring on their own.

Love that it's not messy, my 2 year old loves this!
We LOVE these water wow kits! Bought two different ones for each of my sons for Christmas and my almost-2-year-old loves this one! I love that they are flash cards that all hook together. It's a good toy for on-the-go. I love bringing it to church or on car rides because it's not messy! I do wish the paint brush was more of a pen than a brush because my 2-year-old doesn't know how to "paint" and he just swirls it around. I imagine this is going to cause the bristles to be messed up in a matter of time so I think a "marker" type tip would be more appropriate. However, still a really fun toy and good quality. The water dries fairly quickly. By the time he has gone through all the flash cards the first one is almost ready to write on again.
