So much fun and so relaxing!
This is a great Mandala coloring book. There's only about 3 pages of text in the whole thing and the other 200+ pages are designs to color. These are obviously hand drawn designs but I think that makes it easier to mark up the book - it's not like writing in a book, it's just coloring in a coloring book. One of the best things about the designs is that they're printed only on one side of the page, so you don't have to worry about messing up a design on the back if one turns out really well. Do put something under the page if you use markers, because they do run through the paper. I use a page from a catalog, which works well because it's a glossy finish. The designs vary in type, from some fairly intricate patterns to some that are obviously intended for kids with funny faces and things. I'm having a blast with this and it really does seem to take my mind off of my problems. I'm so proud when one turns out really well, lol.I'm using a set of BIC Mark-It Color Collection Ultra Fine Permanent Marker, Assorted, 36 Markers and Sharpie permanent markers, both of which I got here at Amazon and I highly recommend them. I have the 36 pack of the Bic markers, but many of the colors are too dark so if you buy specifically for this book, I recommend the set of 24. I also tried a variety of gel pens but found they took too long to dry and smeared too easily to be enjoyable. Crayons would works, too, and would be the easiest medium for kids to use.

Calming, fun, creative, gift for Seniors
Want a calming gift for a friend that has everything? Or do you need to relax after a hard day? Who would have thought that adults needed coloring books? But why not? When we were kids we would spend hours coloring our scooby doo or barbie with our crayolas. So as adults, we need some down time. What happens when you color a Mandala is you get lost in the moment, and the coloring, so you stop your mind from stewing on the past, or worrying about the future. And you actually don't even think about much but what you are doing. Being PRESENT is what it is all about, an this is a great coloring book at a wonderful price. It has a terrific selection of pictures, and you will feel calm and happy and fulfilled when you finish a page. This particular book is full of beautiful and detailed images to color. There is enough detail to make you want to pay attention, but not too much to make it difficult. This is actually the perfect level of beauty and color as far as I"m concerned. And if you have an elderly relative that needs creative stimulation this is the perfect gift, along with a big set of crayolas.

wonderful mandalas - not too simple, not too complex
I'm on a grown-up coloring book kick lately and after coloring a few mandalas from another series of boom, I decided I wanted to try and find a few coloring books with nothing but mandalas in them. The great thing about this particular book is that the mandalas are complex, but not *too* much so. Meaning, coloring them won't drive you crazy because they too detailed and filled with tiny areas that only the sharpest pencil/finest pen can fill in. I like details, but I also like to shade and blend colors a lot when coloring (I use colored pencils and watercolor markers with a waterbrush, for the most part) so I like a little space in between lines so that I can experiment with technique. These mandalas are really wonderful. They are almost a little Polynesian/Aztec inspired, in a way- some blocky elements. But the minute I opened the book I knew I wanted to color almost every single one of them, and that for me is the sign a book is *really* great. As far as the printing, they are printed one image per single side of the book, so you can color without worrying about bleed-through. I actually scan all my coloring books and then print the images I want to color out on watercolor paper using my Epson printer so that I can use wet media or blending solvents and not worry about warping the paper. It also means I can color the design a few times if I make a mistake.I love this book and would highly recommend it.

If you are a Mandala person, this is a quality book for you
Okay, so let me say this, this is a quality coloring book. The paper quality, weight, printing and construction of the book is a pleasant surprise. The paper takes color well and you can color to your hearts content. My reason for four stars? I am not sure that Mandala's are for me. I have friends that love to color them and I just seem to have missed the Mandala band wagon. This book will probably go to one of my Mandala fanatic friends. If you like Mandalas, quality paper, book construction, and printing...this is a good book for you because it is quality.

My favorite
I have bought this specific coloring book 3 times already and will definitely be buying it again. I like how the designs are spaced out so I actually have room to color.

Fairly large detailing
Definitely enjoyable with unique designs, but I actually prefer more intricate detailing and less larger areas to fill in with one color. It takes roughly half the time to color a design in this book than it takes to do the more detailed "Angie's" books, which could be a big plus for many. It's certainly easier to color.

I was never a lover of mandalas, then I ...
I was never a lover of mandalas, then I saw a YouTube video and someone had this one and done some lovely colouring in them. The paper isn't the thickest but it's ok. Alcohol markers bleed through but as the pages are single sided it's ok. Just put a sheet of paper behind the one you're colouring. Simple but very enjoyable. I own dozens of colouring books and this is one of my favourites.

Fun and relaxing!

The book is simple enough to be relaxing and enjoyable but not too simple - causing me to be bored and not engaged. Would definitely buy it again!
