Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel

I have difficult hair. Texture runs from fine to coarse (finer hair on crown and canopy, coarse hair on the lower sections). I also have a LOT of hair. Curl pattern ranges from almost straight to s-waves to medium corkscrew/ringlet curls. For porosity, most of my hair is low porosity, although the coarser bottom layer has some medium-porosity strands. Given that my hair has such great variation, it’s really hard to find products that work for my entire mane. This gel works GREAT for my hair! My best approach for styling has been leave-in conditioner plus lightweight curl cream plus gel that dries to a cast, which I then scrunch out once dry. This gel is wonderful for that. I still experience small amounts of halo frizz (practically unavoidable with my hair. Since the topmost layer is finer, the strands that grow straighter on top refuse to join curl families. If I attempt to finger-curl those baby flyaways they might stay together, but will be practically straight). But overall, gel hold is really good and works over at least two days (I’m on day 3 today- still have some nice bouncy curls despite minimal refresh). This gel doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry or limp, so it works in my routine to maintain my ideal protein/moisture balance levels. Also, I’m highly sensitive to fragrance, especially floral scents. I was concerned when I opened my trial-size bottle to break the seal. It was a mild scent, but definitely floral. I needn’t have been worried though. The fragrance isn’t heavy, and completely disappeared once my hair was dry and I scrunched out the gel cast. On days I’m looking for springier curls, this is quickly going into regular rotation. My other almost-holy-grail product (verb foaming gel) works best for softer/tamer curls For background: despite trying multiple approaches and various levels of fidelity to the curly-girl method, I’ve found my best bet is to find products that work for my hair, no matter whether they include forbidden ingredients. Despite having self-admitted difficult hair, it’s extremely tolerant to sulfates and water-soluble silicones. The strict curly girl method was a complete fail for my hair over the 1-2 years+ I attempted it. I’ve spent the past few years trying various products to see what works for me.

I bought this gel to see if the hype was true. I have to say I am really liking how soft and manageable it has been leaving my hair. I love that it doesn’t weigh my hair and if tames frizz.

Absolutely perfect for thick, curly hair. I need a heavy product to weight my frizzy, hair down into soft waves and this is the best I've found since the L'Oreal Melting Gel was discontinued- so sad. Mu hair is just about shoulder length, but I have used it on long hair. This styling product does not become sticky or stiff. That's what I love about it. The first day, once it dries, it has a very strong hold, but it's very shiny and nice looking. If you let it air dry, then just gently press on your curls, the strong hold softens just right to hold your hairdo in soft curls and I've found that it continues the next day looking great. It is not stiff to the touch. It does not add thickness which I like. The scent is fine. It's quite expensive, so that's why I only gave it four stars.

Great product! Does not flake on hair, holds styles well. I have a short curly style and needed my curls to pop but also be moisturized. It did the job!

LOVE this gel! Helped tame my curls so well and a little goes a long way. My curls are less frizzy in the humidity and last much longer. It doesn’t leave a sticky residue feeling which I love. Great option for a good price.

This product regularly gets rave reviews, and I don't doubt it works for people with a certain kind of hair. But for people like me with wavy, fine, low porosity hair? It's failed me just like every other gel that claims to "lock out humidity". I live in Michigan where it generally feels like a sauna for at least two to three months out of the year. Now this gel works wonders on my hair under normal conditions. Leaves it defined with a soft hold... But when I step outside on July on a day with 98% humidity? Frizz city. So if you're lucky enough to have more robust strands, this might work wonders for you. Though I dare say there are cheaper brands that would work just as well for you. But for anyone with baby fine hair like mine? Don't expect this to work any better than all the other gels that have come before it.

This product was recommended by my hair girl. Its the only thing that tames my frizzy hair in the summer. I will be buying this again. Scent is fine, its not overbearing or heavy.

Creates amazing curls with little to no frizz when used with a curl brush/comb. Hair isn’t crunchy and feels silky. A must have for curly hair folk.

I really like this product as someone new to "curly girl" methods. This keeps the frizz down and helps curls to clump together with no heaviness. Recommend. (I have 2C curls/waves)

Lo he probado hoy y me encanta como me ha dejado el cabello. Me re activa los rizos, me lo deja suave, brilloso y sin apelmazar. Con tan solo te pongas un poco nada más en la mano, te lo deja súper bonito. Es caro y no trae mucho la verdad, el bote es algo pequeño pero vale la pena cada euro que me he gastado en este producto. Además de que me lo deja efecto mojado que es mi look preferido. Realmente lo volveré a comprar y además de que probaré otros productos de esta marca. Estoy muy muy satisfecho. Hacia mucho tiempo que buscaba un producto que me dejara el efecto mojado, sin apelmazar y nada de volumen ya que odio el volumen porque tengo mucho frizz y poroso y este producto me lo deja de maravilla!!! P.S. lo he probado un día con muchísima humedad y me lo ha dejado estupendo. Es importante aclarar esto porque los productos que son anti frizz y anti humedad deben ponerse a prueba un día de mucha humedad para saber si el producto realmente sirve.
