Saved my butt... came super fast and was a much better product than the one that came originally on my Nikon 70-200mm. More robust for sure. Was also thrilled that I could get it through Prime because it was fast and free shipping and got it right before my trip.

Stronger and thicker than the Nikon original. I replaced the original foot plate on my Nikkor 70-200 because this one was stronger. I read of other photographers who accidentally banged their tripod-mounted lens and had the flimsy original foot plate deform so badly it almost ripped out. Then I got to thinking. Maybe this Sunwayfoto is actually too strongly made? What would have happened to that guy's expensive lens body if his original thin foot plate hadn't absorbed the impact energy and self-destructed? Would there have been damage to the lens instead? Although this Sunwayfoto foot plate is much stronger than the original, it might not provide protection - similar to the crumple zone on a car's front end.

Excellent fit. Appears more sturdy then the original plate (though never treated mine that rough that I'd have noticed)
