great drives as can get firm ware easy for them and up to date from when got them.Also not many people know this but originally when these drives first came out they were used in hp machines.

Hitachi Dvd Re-writer
Works. Reasonably quiet. Not going to be used massively so hopefully will last a while. Tried to mention very poor packaging for a delicate tech item in first post but amazon rejected it! 1984 springs to mind!

Good quality and value for money
OK, I admit it. I was an idiot... I bought this drive because I thought it was what I needed and because I have past experience of this drive. Unfortunately, I actually needed a 9.5mm drive, so this didn't come anywhere near being the right thing. If only there had been some documentation with the workstation to tell me that the part of the machine that looked just like this was actually a housing!Still I am happy to say that I have used these drives often and they are always excellent. I can also say that the return process was no quibble, simple, free, and efficient even though I had ordered by mistake. Good product, good service, and I am grateful for the excellent return policy which they lived up to in every way.Highly recommended.

Works as intended.
Installed easy enough, no screws supplied with unit, would have expected at least two, luckily had some spare. Also, make sure you have a spare SATA cable. Works perfectly with Windows 11 and driver installed automatically. Excellent speed, rips CD's to MP3 in no time at all, the main reason I bought it since previous optical drive finally gave up. Would recommend.

Noisy... Nearly as much as SpaceX merlin engine ;-)
I purchased this to replace a non working dvdrw drive on my computer setup. It's your normal internal type drive and the case is black. Installation went fine, I purchased the retail version which came with additional software and four installation screws. Nothing to write home about this drive but it is really noisy. Especially compared to my drive it replaced. If your after a quiet drive then forget this one and move on. If you don't mind a SpaceX rocket blasting out when it's hitting too speed.

Great replacement.
replacement for old m/c which had passed its best. this new one great and had played 2 dvd discs that had not played recently.
