Best available price
I've been using these industrial strength Sharpie pens for several years now, so much so that I keep a marker in each of various places around the house and in my shed. They tend to get misplaced while using them, so finding a box of 36 is a great find! And not only that, the price is better than buying them singly or in the popular 3-pack. Now when I need a marker right away, if I misplace one I can go back to the "big" box and be assured I don't have to spend a half hour hunting down the others. I use these to mark canning jar lids, PVC pipe projects, etc. They do not smear and are waterproof ink. The only way I can remove the markings is with pure acetone, which works well for the laminated labels I created for use with my food jars. When the fine tips start to wear down a bit, they get transferred to use with garden and outdoor projects. It's a handy rotation system, and it takes a long time before any ink dries out. Usually I lose them before that ever happens, though. I highly recommend these for truly permanent all-purpose projects!

These are my go to markers
These are my go to markers. I use them in the office, but buy them for use on the jobsite. They mark a wide variety of surfaces and do not rub off easily.

Long lasting; dense, dark black
These are opaque markers, a dense, dark black that I love. I use them to draw and color in. They don't last as long as I'd like them to, but I don't know how they compare to other markers in their category because I've only ever used sharpies when I want marks that are permanent. I use them on surfaces that I then wash with warm water, soap, and a little scrubbing and the marker stays on through many washings. The marks do fade of course, under these conditions, but they never wash off completely, which suits my pruposes perfectly.

Good markers, but could be great...
These Sharpie markers do write better than the regular black colored markers, but I do think Sharpie can do better with markers labelled "Industrial". I use them in a clinical microbiology lab to write on the plastic part of agar petri plates that we streak bacteria onto. They don't write nicely over plates that have some condensation, so they are not as waterproof as they claim if the plate is already slightly wet. If the writing gets wet though, it is pretty durable to not fade out. Heat-proof is also very good for my use in that mostly putting test tubes in a heated water bath or dry heater, the ink does not fade readily. I usually have to wipe the plate off with a towel before writing on any damp or wet plates. However, they are not very long-lasting. After writing on several tens of plates a day sometimes a hundred, the marker maybe will last about a week or two before it become dull or spotty. I've noticed though that the blue color "regular" Sharpies have some sort of more potent dye because they outlast any other color that Sharpie produces. We use blue markers regularly at the lab for that reason. They show up well and are more potent than other colors and types of Sharpies. I would also like to suggest to the Sharpie gods that they should try incorporating the "click" pens for these types of markers because in the industrial or professional lab environment, we do not have time for capping and re-capping these things every use. A simple click pen would be a nice twist to this. They will dry out quickly if left uncapped for a minute or two between tasks. I would continue to purchase these and also the blue regular Sharpies for my use in the lab until I find a better product.

These are good
These are noticably better than regular sharpies. They write on more surfaces and the ink stays on longer.

Live up to the title
These things are worth it. We use them in extreme temperatures in our food truck where we have had issues in the past. They write on grease, they write on wet without too much bleeding. One marker lasts long enough that we lose it 1st. This will be our go to for sharpies in the future.
