KenKen is fun and good for your brain!
I enjoy word puzzles (Jumble and Cryptoquotes, especially), but had avoided puzzles with numbers. Sudoku has always intimidated me, and I've never successfully done one because I gave up in frustration. However, KenKen puzzles (four-square/easy and six-square/challenging) appear in our newspaper so I decided to try one, and now I'm hopelessly hooked! I love KenKen puzzles and am certain they help an aging brain stay engaged. They'd also be good for kids, exercising basic math skills and enhancing critical thinking skills. The four-square puzzles are the place to start, while the more challenging puzzles stretch one's perseverance and determination. This book contains four-square, five-square and six-square puzzles, with an increasing difficulty level and challenge. Highly recommended!

Nephew likes the book -- see below
I got these KenKen books back in late February 2013 since I enjoyed the Martial Arts Kakuro puzzle books years ago. I started to wonder if there was such a puzzle series for KenKen a little after I got interested in KenKen through some variety math puzzle magazines back in December of 2012, and when I checked to see if there was such a Martial Arts Puzzle series for KenKen in January, I had figured out they were almost ready to be released, meaning these books were very fresh off the presses which excited me even more. The size progression system throughout the whole series is a excellent way to show that different sized puzzles have dynamically different solving requirements. That makes it different from the other Martial Arts number puzzle books which included very few different puzzle sizes. Also unlike the other number puzzles, this one uses addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division for the clues which allow for very dynamic puzzle solving strategies.Anyway I got all 4 Martial Arts KenKen books in late February 2013 and started the White Belt book and I think it is the perfect book for anyone just getting started with knowing the puzzles. The White Belt book features some 4x4 puzzles at the start of the book which is a great way for people to get started with simple solving strategies. Once you finish those, you move on to several 5x5 puzzles and they introduce 5 into the puzzles which is a neat step up. The book finishes with some 6x6 puzzles which can be a bit tricky due to the multiplication possibilities, but they are still managable. The conclusion is that this book is perfect for those that want to start earning all the belts one at a time. In fact I finished the book just a couple days after I got it. If you like Kakuro, you probably might like this puzzle too.

KenKen Fun!
I have several different types of these books. This one is indeed easy. I break this one out when I am feeling tired and want to have the fun of KenKen and no challenge to my weary brain. It includes some 4 square puzzles and a greater amount of 5 square and 6 square. The book is bound with glue and is fairly easy to bend at the binding to fold the book in half, making it easier for me to hold. A plus in my book. Oops! Pun alert!

Fun!
I like Sudoku, but they get old quick for me. This book is a great, new twist on them. You have to figure out what combination of numbers leads to the total in the box, based on the mathematical function given. Enjoying them so far!

Simple Puzzle for Beginners
Warning these puzzles are easy to get addicted to. As the title says, it is a white belt level, which means that it starts with some pretty easy puzzles. The 4X4 and 5X5 are easy, especially for first timers. The 6X6 has a few challenging puzzles, and a few easy ones as well. Again, this is great for those who are new to KenKen.The one pro about KenKen, is that it can strengthen one's math skills in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Perfect book
for an advanced beginner. Not too easy, not too hard, just challenging enough. I can't imagine I will ever advance beyond this level, and I'm just fine with that. Wish there were more books on this level.

White Belt KenKen Builds Your Skill Level Quickly
This is a great book for beginners to learn the stategy and thinking necessary to solve KenKen puzzles. It starts off with 4x4 matrices and gradually increases in difficulty then transitions to 5x5 and then 6x6. I had not done KenKen's for several years and this book was a great way to refresh my thinking and strategy skills. I should warn you though it is very addictive. Enjoy!

This Ken Ken book however starts out far too easy in my opinion
I'm a fan of the Kakuro Belt series. Their puzzles are printed with quality ink and paper that tolerates erasing. This Ken Ken book however starts out far too easy in my opinion.
