Great quality sandal for water - but if you want all purpose sandals, choose the Whisper or another style.
I'm torn on how to review these. On the one hand, all Keen's are great sandals. On the other hand, I am returning these because I like the Whisper much better.I wanted a new pair of sandals to be all purpose sandals for travelling, and so I did want some for use in the water, but my main purpose is going to be for hiking or walking. After trying these, I find the Whisper is much better suited for my needs. The Whisper can be worn in the water as well but aren't specifically geared towards water as the main purpose. Here are the differences:The sole of the Clearwater is thinner and flatter (less support) than the Whisper. It also fits more snugly. This all makes sense as a water shoe, however I prefer the chunkier, grippier, more cushiony sole of the Whisper for hiking and walking all day.

Happy with my new Keens
Just got my new Keen Clearwater CNX sandals in size 8 and in Celestial/Vapor. It’s more of a teal color and not so blue, the pictures on here made it look like a darker blue, I’m happy it’s more teal. This is my 2nd pair of CNX Keens, my first was in the gargoyle/Norse blue and they have been great; my favorite shoe for close to 3 years (or more, I can’t remember) either way they are made to last. I have wider feet and like my toes to be able to spread out a bit in my shoes and Keen delivers this. I also have occasional plantar fasciitis, and these shoes have never bothered my feet. They are flexible and allow my foot to freely bend. My feet have a high instep and these don’t feel too tight or too lose, they are just right for me. I love that they are lightweight and not bulky at at all. I also like the smaller toe guard, but wide toe box. They are comfortable right out of the box, but even more comfortable as the years go by. I just wore the heels down on my old ones so my back was telling me it was time to upgrade. I wasn’t complaining though...who doesn’t love getting a new pair of shoes? Especially when they are Keens:)

Great high toe box!
This is the best fit for a narrow foot that needs a high toe box. And they are excellent shoes too. Combing reviews of Keen shoes, I learned that this model fits narrow feet best, and that is true. But did not expect this fantastic toe box! I have what I call "curly toe" - my big toes curl up like an elf - and have real trouble with shoes. Most are simply not made to fit toes like this. I wear holes in canvas, and just can't wear most shoes. They cause great pain. This is the first time I've had a toe box that is actually high enough that I can WIGGLE my toes! These shoes are so comfortable I don't take them off in the evenings; I wear them until bedtime. I love the gummy soles; they give me bouncy energy. I love the adjustability of the bunjee cord. I was afraid I would find them uncomfortable around my ankle and difficult to put on and off because there is no velcro opening/closure around the ankle. But contraire! They are actually EASIER to put on/take off than all my other shoes! I love the blue/pattern color too. In short, these are likely the best shoes I've ever had. I hope this model shoe is not discontinued. If you have narrow feet and/or curled up toes, this shoe is for you.

KEEN Convert
A few years ago, my roommate would rave about Keen sandals. I took one look at hers and decided they were the most hideous shoes to ever exist on this earth and vowed I would never own a pair. Keen has since expanded their styles and released sandals like these, that are a little less bulky. I saw a girl on the subway wearing a red pair recently, and I decided it was time to give these guys a chance. Turns out my roommate was right. These are some of the comfiest shoes I own, and I wish I could wear them year-round. Alas, the Chicago winter is not kind to Keen sandals or the feet in them. I wore these all last summer, including while volunteering on a homestead/farm in Montana. I think they look cute with skinny jeans and shorts, haven't tried to make them work with dresses or leggings, that might look weird. I've worn them with and without socks. I am OBSESSED with these shoes now, just like my roommate, and would recommend them to anyone who is considering buying a pair. These are especially cute, the ruby slippers of Keens, and I like that they aren't chunky like the traditional Keens. However, you have to keep in mind that with a more flexible footbed, these aren't really suited for serious hiking, and you'll sometimes feel rocks under your feet. I would say these are more of a city shoe.

So Small, (Probably Comfortable), Seriously Unflattering
I take an 8-8.5. The JBU shoe I just bought in an 8 fit perfectly--even a bit loose. 8.5 in NB and Brooks running shoes. I'm not sure if this review will reflect that I purchased the 8 or the 8.5, but I ordered both at the same time. Both are extremely small. Both are well made and I can tell the footbed is lovely. The inside is smooth. But, if I were going to reorder, I don't think the 9 would be big enough. I think perhaps I'd order the 9.5. So, I'd say a solid 1.5 sizes (counting by 1/2 sizes) too small for my foot--just to fit. I have wide toes and narrow heels. If you have really narrow feet, perhaps a full size larger than your size would be enough? I'm not going to reorder. Although these look cute in the box and I'd would have liked to try on the correct size, they are ugly. I mean--really ugly--or, I should say, unflattering. I don't mind ugly. There has to be a better option in terms of appearance. My wide foot looked like a flat square box in these, despite the fact that they were squishing them. These made me look like Fred Flintstone, and I don't have ugly feet. So, there you go.

Great But Stinky
I love this sandal. I'm usually an 8 and in some shoes a 7.5. So I went with a 7.5. After trying the shoe on, I was a little worried I should have picked an 8 because the shoe fit EXACTLY to my foot. It was lined up right with my heel, and because they were new I felt as if my heel would actually slide back. Well the opposite happened and as I continued to wear and shape them, they fit better and better.I've had them for a few months now, worn them through all types of terrain, wet, dry and Rocky. They've held up wonderfully. I only have one issue with them and it's their supposed "anti-odor" footbed. For a sandal, they keep a horrible smell. Grrr I'm going to try and get rid of the smell, but it would be nice if they didn't smell at all 😪

Perfect!
If you only buy one pair of walking sandals in your life, buy these! The fit is exact and all encompassing - like wearing a supportive sock with a firm, cushioned sole! The heel strap, unlike some walking sandals, fits snugly round the heel in exactly the right place without slipping or chafing and there's even a small catch for the excess elastic after you've tightened it. Toes are well protected by a rubber bumper but without the toe-stubbing that one sometimes gets from these type of shoes. Perfect! This particular pair are blue with a pattern but I also have a the grey and the fuchsia-pink version. The blue look particularly good with rolled up jeans or shorts and I tend to wear them at home rather than for walking holidays so they'll only get field and pavement walking whereas the other pairs get some real hammer when I go on walking holidays. They stay in place in the roughest of terrain and if you're hot, you can stand in the nearest stream to cool your feet without any harm to the shoes. If you wear them in the sea you will get salt-stains when they dry so I'd recommend rinsing them in cold water afterwards. The manufacturer says you can actually put them in the washing machine but I've never tried this - I tend to just fill the sink with some tepid water and hand-washing liquid and give them a gentle wash. To get right down to the bottom of the foot-bed, I use an old toothbrush. It gets right into the toe and keeps your shoes feeling and smelling fresh. Put them in a warm, sunny place, preferably with the heels downwards to let the water drain out and they'll be dry in a couple of hours.I've had my grey ones for three years now and worn them up hill and down dale with hardly any signs of wear so if you are dithering over whether or not to buy some (they are quite expensive) I'd definitely say 'go for it' - you won't regret it - it's money well spent!

Keen to get these Keen sandals
My daughter has worn a pair of these Keen sandals for a couple of years and adores them. They are suitable for extensive travelling in tropical climes and through water. We have also washed her pair and they have come up like new.So it was high time to order a pair for myself and I am truly delighted. I love the light blue canvas colour and the fact that these shoes have built in arches to support my feet, especially with the huge amount of walking mileage that I do. Beware: little stones, dust and dirt can enter! The soles are rubberised and have grip. My first foray with these was a 6 km hike through woodland and farmland. I wore them on a humid day with no socks. These sandals were brilliant and I am pleased to report that I experienced no friction and no blisters.I have had to order a whole size larger as not only do feet swell in the summer, but these do come up quite narrow. I also have small bunions and these are successfully concealed and accommodated with no problems.

Size up a half size in UK sizes if you can...fit is OK for narrow feet.
Comfortable and light. Flexible sole makes enables you to feel the surface you are walking on so might not be suitable for very rough ground. I have very narrow feet and they are wider than I need but are not a sloppy fit and allow my toes to spread. Like a lot of people I have one foot slightly longer than the other ...one is an 8 and the other 8.5 ...so chose an 8.5 UK...this was ideal on my smaller foot and just long enough on my 8.5 foot.

Not very comfortable
I paid £58.99 so it's worth keeping an eye on the price as I notice today they are over £70.I am usually a size 4 but these were only available in a 4.5 which I ordered and they did fit okay but the sandals were not very comfortable, especially the right one where I have a bunion which pushed out between the straps.Didn't look very nice on either so unfortunately there weren't for me and I have returned.

First class delivery and free returns make shopping enjoyable again
The shoes appeared to be very well constructed but there was a strap that was uncomfortable around my bunion therefore, I had to return them. The feedback scales do not allow explanation so i have had to select the nearest option but please read alongside this review. The delivery was first class and my request to leave them in my safe place was met.I struggle to try shoes on in the shops and greatly appreciate Amazon’s service. Trying shoes in my own home saves me from embarrassment and pain of putting shoes on and off repeatedly whilst (some) customers ‘tut’ at my slowness. Free returns give me confidence to seek shoes to meet my needs.
