Excellent Videos with Superb Instructions and Explanation!!
This is the best series of instructional videos I've ever used. Like many software professionals, I usually just pick up a piece of new software/application and learn it on our own. I did that with Photoshop and I did okay over time with editing RAW images and fix up details in Photoshop. But it's time consuming when one takes hundreds of photos for each outing. I purchased LR3 a few years ago and was not impressed, so I dropped it. LR 5.5 has most of the features I used for for RAW and Photoshop editing. Purchasing Laura Shoe's The Fundamentals & Beyond workshop to learn LR5 is the best decision I made when I decided to give LR 5 a try again. Thank you Laura for your excellent instructions. Every video is to the point and the explanation is concise. If you already own LR, I am sure you will learn things you didn't know before. If you are new to LR, but not a new user in post processing, you will learn LR 5 so much quicker by watching these videos. I felt like having a private tutor because I can choose what topic I want to learn any time I want. Thank You Laura!!

A great investment
All I can say about The Fundamentals and Beyond is extremely positive. Laura Shoe introduces information in a progressive manner that is orderly and very clear. Changes over previous versions is presented including changes to vs. 5 and 5.2. Information is color coded on the list of presentations so that those not familiar with Lightroom have a suggested sequence for learning. Other presentations are coded to help the more familiar to learn more complex tasks. Concepts and tools are presented in a way that promotes learning. Explanation of settings for setup and for developing are very useful. This DVD series of video lessons dispels confusion and gets one up and running quickly. This is definately a valuable resource!

Quite the slog
I've about given up. This really is a case of TMI. She starts by covering the history of her workflow process (Who freakin' cares?!). How she had to use Photoshop and another package and another and how they all worked or didn't work. By the time she got to Lightroom I was totally confused. In her effort to fully explain things she merely befuddles. I don't care how she used to work and how Lightroom has made her life easier, I just want to learn to use LIghtroom. Period. Hey! Try this: Lightroom is made up of 7 modules - Library, Develop, Map, Book, Slideshow, Print, Web...and this is how they work. You start with Library... How simple is that?Sorry. 3 stars because I think, just think there may be some good in there.

A road well paved.
I gave this workshop a 5 star rating for it's unassuming format and accurate delivery. Laura Shoe knows how to teach a sometimes complicated subject in a easily understandable way. I have used Photoshop Cs for five years and added Lightroom 5 this year as a refining tool for B&W and Color printing output geared for commercial publication or copy ready. Laura's workshop gave me methods to further refine copy and further improve my technique and delivery. But for a total beginner this workshop may be a bit much. Once a newly gets some hands-on experience with Lightroom 5 they would develop enough questions to make this workshop a valuable purchase and reference tool. Mark F. Miller (Clear-Light Photography)

For Lightroom 5 users, throw away those books.
The very best way to learn lightroom 5 and its also great for the advanced user. Laura has a great way of explaining how things work, and there is a lot that she shows you that I know I would never had known. Laura is easy to understand and to follow and Laura also has a very nice voice. This video is a fantastic price for what you learn, it is better than any book or books and it is so easy to navigate to any video at any time for a refresher course. I highly recommend this DVD. I also would recommend getting Victoria Bampton's Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 - The Missing FAQ: Real Answers to Real Questions.

Complete and excellent
Lightroom is a great program which can make your photos outstanding if you can master the features. Without training, it can be intimidating. Laura's training video workshop can be summed up in two words: complete and excellent. Each feature of Lightroom is explained in great detail while working with real examples. Fully 62 lessons cover every aspect of Lightroom. Laura' style is very genial. I have turned some just-OK photos or even throwaways into eye-popping photos due to her training. Laura put her heart and soul into this series. Get it- you can't go wrong!

Lightroom 5 Instructional DVD by Laura Shoe.
I was quite amazed that I had never heard of this lady before. The DVD was truly excellent. Concise, coherent and even for an absolute beginner it presented the material in a clear manner. As a matter of principle I never give anything a five star rating, no matter what it is or how good it was, but in this particular instance and also as I was not able to figure out how to give it four and three quarters, I give it the full five. It should be interesting to see if the DVD volume 2 is as good.

Great program for the serious photo finisher.
Expert Laura Shoe gives a comprehensive tutorial on using Lightroom. It may take one a few time going back and forth from the tutorial to the actual Lightroom program to become proficient, but if one is willing to spend the time and effort, the rewards are great. And as a side note, to fully utilize the new Lightroom 5.5, one needs a tutorial. It learning curve if rather steep and many functions are not discoverable by "playing" with the program. Would recommend for the serious photographer, not for the novice.
