Long-lasting
Smells on you all day and on your clothes even after washing. Clean, Musky but sweet undertones. Perfect balance. Great size bottle and sprays well. Great quality and the cost is great for the size and longevity it possess.

Surprisingly complex.
1981 LA is quite the gem in the bustling world of budget fragrances. The immediate opening is harsh largely due to volatility and the synthetic plum accord, but that's the worst I can say about this perfume. Deliciously zesty bergamot mixes with the plum notes and hints of pepper, transforming into a fruity-floral bouquet with enough bite to keep it unquestionably masculine. The ginger-geraniol blend lends to a slightly soapy freshness that is reminiscent of classic barbershop cologne, yet simultaneously leans into modern powerhouses such as Versace Eros. However, this is where the similarities with Eros end. The dry-down moves away from sweet fruit and moves into a hushed, fresh, woody tobacco and vetiver with a hint of creamy amber. From start to finish, the mint acts as a bridge to marry these contrasting notes together, and it persists in a way that is rarely encountered.Projection is solid for about 30 minutes, though it quickly turns into a skin scent as it settles. Yet, given the scent profile and mediocre longevity, it should be workplace appropriate even if reapplied. Just keep in mind that the first few minutes are very strong and can come across as cloying or harsh to others.Everything aside, Guess 1981 LA is a decent value proposition. I say decent because if you intend to wear this daily, you will want to use it liberally and reapply periodically. Perfumes from more expensive designers will tend to have better performance, so even though they cost more up front you won't be running back for a new bottle every month.Personally, I will probably end up buying several bottles for use in a home oil diffuser. The scent really is that good to me. It has a comforting effect that is nostalgic and fresh. 4 stars only because of the overly strong opening and poor longevity.

Great quality for the price!
I collect colonges and have fancy designer scents all the way down to lataffa clones. This one is the best $20-30 range colonge I have purchased in awhile. I like the cheap synthetic scents that you can just use daily. This one has a nice mint at first but it dries down to a nice sweet & smooth scent. I like it on skin a lot which isn't always the case. I would over spray to make it actually perform like a designer cologne. Bottle looks nice and atomizer isn't bad.

Found a winner!
I'm a scent guy whom likes to smell good at all times and am always in the market for that next amazing scent. Well I found it in this cologne. Never knew much bout this brand other then the clothes. It was a very easy buy on the price, but the smell is what made me a fan. It has an outstanding outdoorsy manly smell that isn't too over powering and can be used for everyday use if need be. I wish I could be more descriptive about the smell but I can't quite pin point the exact fragrances other then the oak but it's officially one of my favorites now and am going to check out other fragrances by Guess to broaden my pallet.
