100 Most Popular Songs for Fingerpicking Guitar | Solo Guitar Songbook with Tablature and Notation | Fingerstyle Sheet Music Collection for Acoustic ... Arrangements in Standard Notation and Tab : Various: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Great simplified arrangements of popular tunes - Lots of familiar tunes arranged as fairly straightforward solo pieces for guitar. Although you could use these as accompaniment to singing, they are self contained pieces (I could see this being a useful resource for a teacher). Most arrangements have a fairly traditional alternating bass with the melody line on top 3 strings with just enough additional notes to show the harmony. Most pieces are mainly in the first position with left hand fingering written in the musical stave. The songs are from the last 60 years with only a few from the last decade. I got this book yesterday and have tried out about 10 of the pieces. These are really nice arrangements for the most part, simple enough to get into quickly but cleverly arranged to let the melody sing out and give a sense of the original recording. This style works best for songs with a strong memory and harmonic structure and I can vouch for The Pink Panther, Crazy, Yesterday, Skyfall, City of Dreams, Creep, and Goodbye Porkpie Hat. There is some variation in difficulty level: some of the arrangements of familiar songs (such as the SImon and Garfunkel ones) are perhaps over simplified, and Recuerdos de l'Alhambra looks like it should be in a much more advanced book! Excellent value and I know this will give me lots of pleasure, and (hopefully) give me insights into improving my own arrangements. Review: Perfect perfect perfect. - A wonderful book. Great varied song choices. Nobody is going to love 100% of the songs here, I myself will give maybe half of the books content a good go. Quite a big heavy book, but let's face it, it contains 100 transcribed songs in tab and standard notation. Easy to use, stays open on selected songs no problems. I prefer ring binding but no problems with this excellent book staying open at any page in book. So don't agree with those saying the book doesn't stay open, mine does. I own many guitar tab books (100 plus) and this is set to be one of my most used. I wish all music books had this high standard. Perfect perfect perfect.

Worth having
Got some decent arrangements in here where the arranger has given some careful thought. Other songs not so much as with most books. But a good effort overall.

Good value collection of songs
A varied mixture of songs, some classics and some newer. I might need to look up the latter as they're not familiar to me. You get the chords, std notation and TAB basically for the tune (as far as I can tell) but unfortunately you do not get the chord shapes at the top of the page. This would have been helpful as there are quite a few unfamiliar chords in these arrangements. Maybe that's because I'm not very experienced but I don't think a beginner could strum the chords to most of the songs. Still, its a good value book and there are plenty of songs to learn for the non readers of std notation.

Great Book For Aspiring Fingerstyle Guitarists
I am a guitar teacher and I love guys like Tommy Emmanuel/Doyle Dykes/Joe Robinson. The problem is that learning their songs takes weeks and months and I am happy doing that. This book offers much more achievable versions of popular songs that most audiences will recognise so I reckon is a quick and easy repertoire builder. Could these versions be more complex or sophisticated? For sure yes but wit would take ages to learn them. I teach people who work full time and they haven't got time to learn the super complex arrangements so this book is a winner for me. I think that guitar players of any style including rock should have a small repertoire of solo songs to be able to perform just with the guitar instead of always relying on backing tracks or having to rely on other band members.

It’s not easy like other books
To many pages for one song

100 beautiful songs - just what I was looking for
Just what I was looking for. 100 beautiful songs. I would class myself as a little better than a beginner - I suppose intermediate, and these pieces are just hard enough to be a challenge, but not too difficult. Really pleased with this purchase.

Great book packed with cracking songs
Gorgeous book with so many songs. I love the fact there is standard notation as well as tab.

Nice book, great tunes, notation and tab. I didn’t realize it would be so thick, I guess I was under estimating … a spiral binding would have been a good option.

Too widely spaced and unwieldy for starters and the arrangements are terrible. Okay if you just want to play the melody on a recorder or a tin whistle. Total waste of money for me.
