System for Ophthalmic Dispensing

Arrived in great shape! It was a required text for a course, but I loved the in-depth examples and pictures for how to adjust and repair eyewear so much that I purchased it outright. The information gives good foundations for opticians and anyone working with eyewear.

This is THE book for opticians and optometrists. I used this to study for the AOA and ABO licensing tests and passed both without any problems prior to using it as reference in optometry school. It details the hows and whys of ophthalmic optics and is a phenomenal reference. I am proud to have this book in my collection and do refer back to it even now.

It certainly is through! I bought this to help me study for the ABO. It's WAY too much information, I ended up setting it aside to use TOPS instead. For a third edition book, they have some major type-o's. I feel like editing it and sending it back for a fourth edition re-write. Anyway, there are practice exams, which are helpful. Also a TON of information. I'll keep my copy as a reference, but I foresee it collecting a lot of dust.

I'm a relatively new optician, and while I passed my ABO, I'm still learning a lot especially about more complicated lenses and repairs. Great resource for any optician and well worth the cost.

If you are going into Ophthalmic Dispensing this book is required. But you can get the E-book and carry your device instead. I was going to return this book after getting the eBook but the shipping was so expensive it was not worth returning. I wish I had found eBooks sooner.

This is a mandatory text for all practicing opticians, and recommended for optometrists who plan to dispense eyewear. I am an optometry student, and a licensed dispensing optician with an ABO Master certification. Excellent resource for all things related to ophthalmic optics. Well laid out, and the updated version here has color photographs. I've used the second edition extensively, and opted to purchase this third edition for my own reference.

I had to purchase this text as a student, and it is immensely helpful. The layout is easy to read/follow, and it is an excellent reference. It is important for optometrists to know at least the basics, and this is a very good text to have as a resource (though there's just no substitute for a real live optician!).

great picture demonstration for everything,, careful with the standards and some methods can be confusing if you're a British student.

Very extensive book. I am using it a textbook for an Optical Science program. I have had to tape the outside binding but that is likely from use as I have had it a year now and use it all the time. As the subject matter can be quite daunting I have had to reread certain entries to fully grasp what is being taught but it is well written and things are quite easy to find. All in all an excellent book.

Gives the edge over the traditional textbook.
