Scotland for the fast and furious...
For the modern traveler looking for a concise guide to Scotland, "Eyewitness Travel Top Ten Scotland" might be it. In just 160 pages, newly updated for 2013, this guide focuses on the very best that Scotland has to offer, in a format loaded with pictures, maps, graphics, minimal text, and plenty of website addresses for further research."Top Ten Scotland" shares some information in common with the longer and more detailed "DK Eyewitness Scotland Guide", but has its own format, tightly focused on the priorities of the busy traveler. The guide offers the ten best things to see in all of Scotland, then drills down to a variety of additional top ten lists by region and by category. Among the categories are castles, formal gardens, fishing spots, golf courses, distilleries, traditional Highland events, attractions for children, restaurants, and some best-kept secrets. Other categories include best museums, best long distance hiking trails, and best Munro's (mountains) to climb. The guide does include some practical information on when and how to go to Scotland, and how to get around once you get there. It's nicely organized, heavily illustrated, and very portable. "Top Ten Scotland" is highly recommended as a minimalist guide to the traveler who prefers his or her information fast and furious.

Great travel companion from amazon
This book is a worthwhile purchase but has its limitations. There are many interesting tourist sites which don't appear in it, and sometimes I had wished I didn't have to go to google instead. But one book cannot do justice to Scotland anyway! As for those that do appear in it, the material is ample for the average tourist, mentioning the pertinent information. One interesting aspect was the driving tours around particular areas.

Love Top 10
I always use Top 10 guides when we travel (which we do a lot), & they are the best. Our trip to Scotland was fantastic, and the guide was very useful. They give you what you need at a glance, yet enough information to make your trip perfect. I have never had a bad meal eating at the restaurants they recommend. Recommend strongly!!!

Succinct, great guide
We've used the Top 10 guides before, and this one did not disappoint. We constantly referred to it throughout our trip to Scotland. As we visited spots, we realized what we should see there as well as other places we should try to see as well. I highly recommend it.

Top 10 books
I love these books. We get them every vacation we take to Europe. They are helpful and the set up is easy to follow and flip through quickly. Plus the maps are always great. We have the London, Dublin, Tuscany, Rome, Venice ones too. Love 'em.

Worth it for the fold-out maps alone
We bought this book for our vacation this year. The fold-out map of Edinburgh was perfect, especially since our cell phone data plans/GPS didn't work in the UK and wifi access spotty. The book was also an interesting read while on the train. It's small and portable.

Terrific for making best use of travel time!
We go back to this book over and over as we prepare for our visit to Scotland. If you want to make sure you see the best that Scotland has to offer, you need this book. We have other travel books on Scotland too, but this one is essential.
