Excellent!!!
This book is amazing!! The maps are detailed and small, but it is a small book. It has small maps of individual trails and different parts of the park. If you want a large map of detailed trails and roads, then get a separate map. But this book will tell you the best trails to go on. This book provides an enormous amount of information about the best hikes, points of interest, lodging, scenic drives, plant life, wild life, places to eat, and just about anything else you can imagine. I have been to these parks before on a short visit, This book provides an immense amount of detailed information of other places in the park that I did not know existed, and all in one place. Easy to use, and read and with some colorful pictures. I recommend this book to anyone going to these parks. A must!! Love it!!

I definitely recommend this book as a guide!
If you're a fan of lonely planet, like I am, you will definitely find this guide useful if planning a trip to Yosemite/Sequoia/Kings Canyon. I'm planning a backpacking trip for the summer -- originally, it was only going to be to Yosemite, but all of the pictures and descriptions have convinced me to checked out some other places in the parks I wouldn't have known about otherwise. This guide is great if you're looking to find some not-as-touristy attractions. I think it's really meant to give you an idea of what the parks have to offer, with brief descriptions and ratings of each trail. So I'm using it as my starting point guide, and then supplementing with other more detailed descriptions online. But, this guide is definitely the best and up-to-date one I've seen for these parks.

This provides good information for planning visits to the parks
I found the guide very helpful in planning a trip to see as much as possible without exceeding my endurance capability. The parks are huge and I turned 75 this year. The trail information was good for planning driving as well as hiking. Additional detail on trail routing is usually available at park offices. I like the Lonely Planet guides because they give increased coverage of natural resources, minimizing detail on accommodations.

Google It
This guide book would have been useful in pre-internet times. Unfortunately all of the information contained is not only widely available online but also better laid out. I have been to Seqoia twice, Kings Canyon once, and Yosemite 4 times over the last 2 years. I consulted this book twice, and both times I needed additional information (current trail conditions, campsite details, personal accounts regarding which hikes are truly worth it, etc) that was all accessed via the internet. This book pretty much has all the top lists of what to do, but these can all be found online in a matter of seconds with a google search.

Consistently Superior Guidebooks
We find Lonely Planet guidebooks to be the best resources out there and this did not let us down. I had not visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon Parks in almost 50 years and this guidebook gave us all the information we needed to pick a great campground, see the sites and understand the park. Highly recommend.

Disappointed
I purchased this book looking for really accurate maps and suggestions for drives through the park. I found the layout very confusing. They note milage between points but not overall milage or driving times for various loops. The free information on the NPS site was just as good. I was hoping for something more in-depth.

Good guide. Used it twice now
Good guide. Used it twice now. A large fold out map wouldn't been nice, but you can get those for free at the park.

A great well rounded coverage of the parks
A great well rounded coverage of the parks. I used it for Sequoia and Kings Canyon only. Definitely describes many things to do both in and outside and for all skills levels and individuals. Highly recommend especially for folks with families or others who do not just want to hike.

Great Guide for Travelling to Yosemite and arounds
This guide for a present for a friend who is planning to go to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon during his 2013 holidays. He was very pleased with this up-to-date guide ( as it was reprinted and updated in 2012) and it seemed very informative and useful. My only feedback for the future reprints would be adding a few more photographs and maybe concentrate on a bit wider area, so people who not planning to do all the walking can use it for other information as well.

a book of quality
A lovely book, swiftly delivered, Clear and easy to read with some amazing photos to inspire at the front.More photos would be appreciated...The book is a good size for tucking into your hand luggage, if not a little heavy due to glossy pages

Well laid out and covers it all!
Very handy reference when visiting these parks. Good info on the campsites and walks, although work double-checking things with the parks as things change according to the weather
