Did not fit my unit but high quality and would function well on the right rc engine!

Poorly designed, replacing the cord doesn't help. It will keep shredding cords.
I should have listened and just bought the $25 original HPI part. The pull start lasted about 20 short pulls before snapping like in the other reviews. I had purchased a 125ft roll of micro cord to inevitably replace the cord. After replacement, the new cord is already chafing and fraying against something inside the pull start housing after a few test pulls. Complete crap. The thing is, the cord is fraying at the exact same spot as the previous one. That's how I came to the conclusion it's not a weak cord, it's the pull start housing that is a really really poor design. Spend the money on a original part if you can, eBay is a great source for parts or Amain. I looked closely at the pull start housing and couldn't find any sharp places the cord can rub against. The only thing the cord touches in the housing is the brass guide that is SUPPOSED to prevent fraying. Next time the cord snaps I'll try and flip it inside out as it has more of a smoother opening. I'll update if it works but for now this junk stays at 1-star. Pros: - It's fits a HPI Nitro Star S-25 engine Cons' - It couldn't even start the engine without snapping, and the engine is over 20 yrs old.

They didn’t tie the knot
I bought this as a replacement for my Kyosho KE-25 pull starter. It was a direct fit for the existing backplate and I was excited after the complete rebuild (minus the pull starter of course because I could not wind the coil spring) but literally screamed out loud when I gave a tug and the handle pulled completely off! After looking at the pull string, I saw that they only tied a tiny knot which wasn’t good enough to retain the handle and the coil spring pulled the string inside the housing…COMPLETELY! I do not recommend this pull starter!
