Great bit, but you must understand where the cutting area is
I broke the first bit that was sent to me, but it's because I didn't understand exactly what part of the bit could actually cut. At the top of the bit (the end that connects to the router), it's solid cylindrical metal until you get to the point where the spiral groove starts to be cut into the shaft. That area cannot cut through the wood. It's not until you get a little further toward the bearing end that you get to the actually cutting area of the bit. I didn't realize this and was trying to cut plywood partially with that non-cutting area. It took a lot of force and ultimately the bit broke. Now that I understand, my replacement bit is working great. I've seen a couple people complain about breaking bits, and I have to wonder if they did the same thing I did.Prior to this bit, I was using a 1/2" straight bit. It did the job, but it was a lot more work pushing it through, and the resulting cut was kind of rough. Needed a good deal of sanding. With this spiral bit, the cut is smooth as glass.

Great product
Used this bit for the first time and couldn't of cut any better. So smooth, used it on black walnut.

Bearing failure within first few minutes of use
I had high hopes for these bits to help me trim some laminate countertops. For not much more in cost I could have gotten a Freud flush trim bit for laminate. My thought was that the spiral style bit would give me a smoother cut. This did not work out.I notice before I even used the bit that the bearing was not rotating smoothly. I worked with it until it began to spin. When I first began the cut, everything appeared to be working. Then suddenly, the resistance to motion went way up and I smelled something burning. The bearing had frozen up and overheated the lower portion of the bit causing discoloration and a terrible odor.Even after the bit cooled down, the bearing would no longer turn. There was no obvious way to remove the bearing either. On the portion of the workpiece where the bearing was still turning, I noticed that the laminate was not truly flush. I checked and it appears that the bearing is slightly larger than the cutters (not by much) but enough to leave a sharp lip.I wish that I had been a bit wiser in my purchase or used a different approach. It looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of file work to get the edges right on my top.So, I became curious about whether the bit was carbide or high-speed steel. I checked it with a magnet to see if it was strongly magnetic or only weakly so. My other carbide bits are weakly magnetic. These are strongly magnetic, leading me to believe that these are high-speed steel and not carbide.

DANGEROUS
DO NOT BUY THIS BIT. I bought one, put it in my router table and as soon as I touched wood to it, it snapped. I filled for replacement with the same item, figuring it happens, sometime bits are just faulty. Got the replacement. It cut wonderfully, however the coupling above the bearings keeps coming off and the bearings will fly off. Extremely dangerous for flush trimming. Thankfully I was using this on my router table and not my hand router.

Good router bit
No problems with this bit, works as it should. Glides along the surface well enough to trace a cut.

Works great. Glad I bought it.
I was having trouble with my flush trim bit. The detail I was trying to create was somewhat delicate and my bit kept ripping up the edge. This bit left a perfect edge and gave me a much nicer cut. The price was good too. I’m very happy with this bit and would recommend it.

Sharp bit makes smooth cuts
This bit works amazingly! First use was to cut some kayak hatch holes, this bit sliced through the plastic smoothly and had no chatter just a clean easy to guide cut. I've also used it on some wood projects and it performs equally well leaving clean smooth cuts that need almost no sanding. It's also very sharp you can feel the cutting edge on the bit so be careful taking it out of the protective case. I'm very happy with the performance so far and will be ordering more for my wodshop.
