Zante Currants are one of the oldest known raisins, with the first written record of their use in 75 A.D. They are the dried form of small, sweet, seedless grapes that grow in small, tight clusters

Why are these currants called raisins? They are not the same thing.

These are "currants" made from tiny, very sweet grapes--i.e., raisins. They are not true currants, which are a totally different type of berry (and much more expensive, BTW).

Do these have seeds in them?

They are just like a tiny raisin. A few might have a seed that is barely detectable. It felt kind of like a bit of grit. But only if you ate them fresh from the bag. If you cook with them you won't notice a thing. They are the best currants. I loved them. Made great scones. I do recommend them.
