Width of plate 5 3/4 wide. 11 1/2 length. Screw holes 1/2 inch from top & sides on four corners.

Q: When the rail is folded up if someone were to try and use it for support will it hold their weight or simply fold down causing them to lose balance?

When folded in the "up" position the rail should be locked into the clip, also mounted on the wall as shown in the photo. If securely clipped in the rail was fine for my loved one to lean against or for light support, but it will not have the stability or same capacity to support body weight as it does when folded down. You can hold onto the rail, but I would not plan on full weight bearing.
